My husband and I recently switched our daughter from disposable diapers to cloth diapers. After our initial trip to the cloth diaper store, we brought home three all-in-two diapers and one pocket diaper. After just a few days of using cloth, I was hooked. Although I am trying to restrain myself so that I do not end up buying so many cloth diapers that I lose out on the money saving benefits, I immediately started searching for a few more cloth diapers to try. I do not mind washing diapers everyday, but I would not mind being able to skip a day every now and then.
While investigating other cloth diapers to try, I came across Awesome Blossom. Upon contacting the company, I received a Yellow Bubble Time OS pocket diaper to review. This one-size-fits-all cloth diaper fits children who weigh between nine and thirty-five pounds. The outer material is 100% polyester with a waterproof PUL lining; the inner material is super soft micro-fleece. This diaper has two layers of snaps that adjust the size around the waist including extra cross-over snaps for an extra small fitting around the waist as well as three torso snaps that allow the diaper to grow with the child. Each diaper also comes with an absorbent three-layer micro-fiber insert.
I really love how easy Awesome Blossom cloth diapers are to use. The snaps are tight but not impossible to pry apart. When I first tried this diaper on my daughter, I initially used the medium snap positions on the torso because her other diapers fit her at this size. However, after a few minutes, I realized that I should have used a smaller setting. I was able to unsnap the torso snaps and readjust the diaper to a smaller size without having to take it off my daughter. However, although easy to snap and unsnap, these snaps are also very secure. I will not have to worry about my daughter easily unsnapping her diaper when she gets older and more dexterous.
I am very pleased with the absorbancy of the micro-fiber insert. My daughter usually wears her diapers for two to four hours between diaper changes. Once I had washed my Awesome Blossom cloth diaper enough times, I was able to leave it on her for over two hours. I am extremely pleased that this diaper lasts for as long as my daughter needs. I also like that the inner micro-fleece cloth helps wick moisture away from my daughter’s skin.
I also love the texture of the cloth of the Awesome Blossom diaper. The minky on the outside is very soft. I can comfortably carry my daughter around in nothing but a diaper without worry about how the outer cloth will rub me or her. (And I definitely want to show off my daughter in just her diaper because the pattern is just too cute!) I also really love the super soft micro-fleece that touches her skin. I always worry about irritation in my daughter’s sensitive diaper area. However, she has not had any problems with diaper rash or redness with this cloth diaper.
As an exclusively breastfed baby, my daughter usually poops only every couple of days. Most of her diapers have therefore been only wet. However, I am happy with the way in which my Awesome Blossom diapers contain her breast milk poop. I will be interested to see how this cloth diaper continues to perform when my daughter begins eating solid foods and her dirty diapers change in quality and quantity.
In terms of pricing, Awesome Blossom cloth diapers are comparable to similar one-size-fits-all pocket diapers. My Yellow Bubble Time OS retails for $21.99, which includes the pocket diaper and one insert. Depending on the print and color, other Awesome Blossom diapers sell for as low as $14.95 up to the highest price of $21.99. Awesome Blossom also offers sets of diapers that provide some savings for buying larger quantities at once.
My only complaint about my Awesome Blossom cloth diaper is that the pocket opening for the insert is a little on the small side. I had to fold the insert in half before inserting it into the diaper, which is a little inconvenient. However, at the same time, the small opening ensures that the insert will not fall out while my daughter is wearing this cloth diaper, so I am not totally unhappy.
Final Verdict: I really do not have much of anything negative to say about my Awesome Blossom cloth diaper. First, I really love the print, which is cute, and the material, which is super soft and super absorbent. More importantly, I love the way in which this cloth diaper fits my daughter. I do not have to worry about leaks while she is in her Awesome Blossom Yellow Bubble Time OS Cloth Diaper. Poppy and I give this cloth diaper four thumbs up!
