My daughter loves ducks, so the Duck & Goose books by Tad Hills were an instant success. The book Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling? introduces young readers to a handful of emotions through the lovable characters Duck, Goose, Thistle, and Bluebird.
Like most of the other Duck & Goose board books, Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling? provides young readers with vocabulary words illustrated with pictures that exemplify the word rather than a story. I particularly love this book because the emotions used are not just the typical feeling words. Yes, Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling? includes the basics such as sad and happy. However, this book also introduces young readers to emotions like proud, frustrated, and patient.
Also like the other books in the Tad Hills series, I absolutely adore the illustrations in Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling? Although fairly simple, the pictures are still engaging. Even as an adult, I enjoy looking at all the details on each page.
Final Verdict: Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling? by Tad Hills is an excellent book with which to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to words for emotions. I love the illustrations and also appreciate the use of non-standard feeling words. If you are looking for a book on feelings for your little reader, I highly recommend Duck & Goose, How Are You Feeling?
