H Is for Horse Handprint Craft

H is for horse! Help your toddler learn about the letter H by making a fun horse handprint craft.

Materials

  • Dark brown and light brown nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some dark brown paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of dark brown paint on your child’s hand.
  3. Press the dark brown handprint with the fingers open into the center of the paper.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some light brown paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light brown paint on your child’s fingertip.
  7. Press four light brown fingertip prints above the dark brown handprint and one light brown fingertip print at the tip of each dark brown fingerprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
  8. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light brown paint on your child’s finger.
  9. Press the light brown fingerprint extending from the dark brown handprint opposite the thumbprint.
  10. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  11. Use a paintbrush to paint a light brown eye in the center of the dark brown thumbprint.
  12. Use a paintbrush to paint “H is for horse” in light brown on the paper.
