‘The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book’ Book Review

'The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book' Book Review

My daughter is obsessed with telling jokes at the moment, although she does not quite understand the concept of wordplay yet. She can recite some knock-knock jokes but cannot come up with her own funnies yet. My daughter is also into superheroes. She loves our DC Super Heroes Little Library board book set. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book by Michael Robin, Sarah Parvis, and Noah Smith in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to add a new title to my home library.

Author/Illustrator

The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book was written by a team of hilarious people. Michael Robin is a librarian, author, and DC mega-fan. Sarah Parvis is the author of many children’s books. Noah Smith is a comedy writer and playwright.

Evaluation

When my daughter saw my copy of The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book sitting on my desk, she was so excited that she asked me to finish writing my review in one day so that she could take possession of the book. As I mentioned, she loves jokes at the moment but has not quite figured out the fine art of wordplay. She thus relies on retelling jokes that she has previously heard or read. She was thus super excited to get her hands on this joke book.

My daughter is five and a half, but she has been reading on her own for over a year. Recommended for readers in first grade and up, The Official DC Super Hero Joke Book is at a perfect reading level for her. She loves flipping through the pages and reading the jokes, puns, riddles, and more aloud to me and her little brother. The book has definitely helped expand her repertoire of jokes. My personal favorite is: Where does Catwoman buy her clothes? From a cat-along!
