Ohuhu Hot Glue Gun Review

Ohuhu Hot Glue Gun Review

Although my kids are still too little to use a hot glue gun, I use mine fairly frequently, especially during the winter holidays. One Christmas I made a beautiful musical wreath by hot gluing dozens of music ornaments to a plain plastic wreath. Hot glue also works great for attaching fabric to other fabrics while making crafts that do not necessarily require sewing. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a hot glue gun from Ohuhu, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to add to my craft supplies.

Price

The Ohuhu hot glue gun currently retails for $25 with a sale price of $12.99 on Amazon. Other similar hot glue guns sell for roughly the same price. The compact glue gun works well, so I rate the price positively.

Design

With a compact size that is portable and easy to take on the go, the Ohuhu hot glue gun is ideal for use in the home, school, or office on DIY craft projects with metal, wood, glass, card, fabric, plastic, ceramics, and more. The blue plastic glue gun measures 5.1 inches by 4.3 inches by 1 inch with a 47 inch cord. The working temperature ranges between 356 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit, and the high quality aluminum nozzle that measures between 0.070 and 0.078 inches will not deform the gun even after long-term use. The glue gun may smoke for 30 minutes during first use. In addition to the glue gun, the package also comes with 26 glue sticks measuring 10 inches long that provide super strong adhesive for all your crafting needs.

To use the hot glue gun, simple insert a glue stick and turn the gun on to pre-heat. Once the glue gun heats up after three to five minutes, a trigger propulsion devices controls the glue flow to prevent wasting the sticks. The glue gun also automatically maintains a constant temperature. Once you have finished with your project, leave any remaining stick in the gun for next time. Safe and comfortable to use, the glue gun features a power switch with an LED indicator for safety and an adjustable wire stand for stability in an upright position. Ohuhu offers a 12-month replacement warranty, 30-day money back guarantee, and lifetime support guarantee.

Performance

I am quite happy with my new hot glue gun from Ohuhu. First, I really appreciate the compact size. I can store the gun and included glue sticks in the package, which measures 8.5 by 6.1 by 2.8 inches. The small size also makes using the glue gun easier for me. I am a small woman with small hands. I am able to pick up this glue gun one-handed and hold my craft in the other hand without any problem. I definitely recommend this glue gun to smaller adults and older children who are responsible enough to work with heated tools.

Ohuhu includes twenty-six 10-inch glue sticks with the hot glue gun, so I could get started crafting right away. My first project was some DIY stars made from wooden craft sticks. As described, the glue offers a firm adhesive. I am super glad that I put some wax paper and scrap paper down on my countertop before using the glue gun. I dripped a little of the hot glue onto the wax paper while assembling my stars. The adhesive is so strong that I had to rip the paper a bit to remove my completed star. I sure am glad that I did not glue the star to my counter! The glue sets within 10 to 20 seconds, and I very much appreciate the quick cool time. If you need a strong adhesive, Ohuhu provides as promises! Just be sure to lay down some scrap paper before you begin crafting because the glue sticks to so many surfaces!

Using the hot glue gun from Ohuhu is incredibly easy. Start by inserting a glue stick in the gun and then plugging the cord in. As described, the glue gun warms up in three to five minutes. Ohuhu warns that the glue gun may smoke during the first few uses, but I did not experience this minor and common issue. Once the glue gun preheated, I pressed gently on the trigger to release some of the hot glue. The glue came out smoothly but did not overflow. My only complaint is that the adjustable wire stand is a little flimsy. I found that laying the gun down was easier than attempting to use the stand. However, the glue gun delivers hot glue perfectly every time. My wooden craft stick stars turned out beautifully!
