Sinful Brownies Recipe

Sinful BrowniesToday is my birthday! I am twenty-seven years old. In celebration of my birthday, I decided that I needed to make myself a yummy treat. (I also needed something decadent to eat to dull the pain of having to go back to work tomorrow.) I therefore whipped up a batch of sinful brownies the other day.

Sinful brownies are just that: sinful. With a layer of chocolate chip cookies and a layer of Oreos under a layer of brownies, my sinful brownies are definitely not a dessert for the faint of heart. Then again, these brownies are so easy to make, so why not indulge once in a while?

To make my sinful brownies, I began with a package of Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix, a package of Betty Crocker brownie mix, and a package of Oreos. After preheating the oven and greasing the baking pan, I began preparing the chocolate chip cookie dough. Ignoring the directions on the package, I combined the dry mix with an egg, 1/4 cup of water, 1/2 stick of butter, and 1/4 cup of olive oil. The chocolate chip cookie dough will be more watery than usual because the brownies need to cook for longer than cookies. Therefore, the extra moisture is needed to keep the cookie dough from drying out.

After preparing the cookie dough, I spread a layer chocolate chip cookies in the bottom of my baking pan. I then opened the package of Oreos and spread a layer of the cookies on top of the cookie dough. I then got to work making the brownie batter. Following the directions on the box, I mixed the dry mix with an egg, 1/4 cup of water, and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil. I then spread the brownie batter evenly over the Oreos in the pan, making sure to cover all of the Oreos and chocolate chip cookie batter.

I then popped my sinful brownies into the oven for about forty-two minutes. To make sure the brownies were cooked thoroughly, I inserted a knife into the center of the pan. When the knife came out clean, I knew that the brownies were done. After letting the sinful brownies cool for a few minutes, I cut two pieces: one for me and one for my husband. Yummy! Happy birthday to me!
