Smart Bottoms Smart Liner Review

Smart Bottoms Smart Liner Review

I prefer to wash my cloth diapers every other day, and I often go a few days longer between washes when I am travelling. I thus require a large pail liner in which to store my dirty diapers. Smart Bottoms recently sent me a Smart Liner pail liner as part of my Smart Bottoms ambassadorship.

Price

The Smart Bottoms Smart Liner current retails for $16. Compared to other pail liners, most of which measure smaller, I consider the price very reasonable. I sincerely wish that I had not purchased some of my smaller pail liners prior to receiving my Smart Liner, which is larger but comparatively priced. I therefore rate the price of the Smart Bottoms Smart Liner extremely highly.

Colors

Smart Bottoms currently offers the Smart Liner in six solid colors: Midnight (black), Cloud (white), Lime-alisious (green), Bubble Gum (pink), Storm (blue), and Slate (gray). I received the Lime-alisious, which is a gorgeous bright green color. Compared to many other brands, the selection of colors from Smart Bottoms is a bit limited. However, the high quality of the pail liner at a reasonable price more than makes up for the limited number of colors.

Design

The Smart Bottoms Smart Liner is a waterproof reusable diaper pail liner that fits most 13-gallon trash cans or diaper pails. The wet bag consists of 100% high quality, USA-made PUL (polyurethane laminate). The PUL helps contain moisture and odors. The Smart Liner additionally features an elastic top that fits tightly around most tall kitchen trash cans or diaper pails. The liner fits perfectly in my lidded garbage can that I use for dirty diapers, and the elastic keeps the bag securely in place. Additionally, the Smart Liner measures considerably larger than many other large wet bags currently on the market.

Laundering

As with all cloth diapers and accessories that I introduce into my stash, my only requirement for laundering is that the new product must fit into my current laundry routine. On laundry day, I empty the dirty diapers from my Smart Bottoms Smart Liner into my washing machine and then toss in the bag. I use a warm wash with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. After the second cold rinse, I hang the pail liner on my drying rack in front of a fan to dry. I do recommend pouring out any remaining water that becomes trapped inside the bag during the rinse cycle before hanging to dry. If I am in a hurry, I may toss the dry Smart Liner in my dryer using the delicate setting, but I primarily allow the pail liner to air dry. All in all, I find washing the Smart Bottoms Smart Liner extremely easy.

Performance

Although I own a number of other reusable pail liners, I can honestly say that I wish that I had more Smart Bottoms Smart Liners in my stash. I am most excited about the generous size combined with the affordable price. I paid the same amount last year for a similar pail liner that fits only a 5-gallon garbage can. The 13-gallon Smart Liner holds up to four days of dirty diapers and overnight training pants from my kiddos. I additionally use the pail liner as a laundry bag for dirty clothes when I travel, meaning the Smart Liner is versatile. Even after I am done with diapers, I can continue to use the pail liner for laundry when I travel.

In addition to the size, I love the high quality of my Smart Bottoms Smart Liner. The PUL is thick and sturdy and appears high quality. I have not noticed any wear or tear to the material after multiple washings. The elastic is also stretchy and strong. Most importantly, the pail liner keeps moisture and odors in as promised. I can toss the most soaked and most heavily soiled diapers in the bag without having to worry about messes or smells leaking into my diaper pail. I therefore rate the Smart Bottoms Smart Liner extremely highly in terms of performance.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for a reusable pail liner, I highly recommend the Smart Bottoms Smart Liner. At just $16 each, the Smart Liner is reasonably priced. Compared to other similar pail liners, the pail liner offers a larger-than-average size that fits a 13-gallon garbage can, holding diapers or laundry from multiple days. Most importantly, the PUL is high quality and contains the moisture and odors from the wettest and dirtiest diapers. I cannot recommend the Smart Bottoms Smart Liner more highly!
