Baby Sign Language: Eat and Drink

Hunger and thirst are two big concerns in your baby’s world. Teach your baby the signs for the words eat and drink in baby sign language with the following descriptions and videos. Use your dominant hand to form the signs.

Baby sign language, baby sign, or baby signing is used by hearing parents with pre-verbal hearing children to improve communication. My baby signs are based on ASL (American Sign Language) signs. Baby signing is distinct from sign language.

    Eat

Form the fingers and thumbs into a flattened letter O. Tap the fingertips on the lips.

    Drink

Form the letter C with the hand. Rotate the hand in front of the mouth in the motion of tipping a beverage to the lips.
