Birdious Window Bird Feeder Review

Birdious Window Bird Feeder Review

I love watching the birds in my yard from my living room picture window. I recently bought a small suet feeder to hang in my apple tree. Both my kids and my son especially love watching the birds devour the food and hang out in the tree. I wanted to get another bird feeder for my yard so that I could feed even more birds. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a window bird feeder from Birdious in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Price

The Birdious window bird feeder currently retails for $23.95 on Amazon. Other bird feeders of similar size and design cost approximately the same amount. I therefore rate the price of the Birdious feeder positively.

Design

Measuring 6.5 by 4 by 9.5 inches, the Birdious window bird feeder consists of a removable tray with three compartments for food and water and a roofed back with four suction cups. The clear acrylic plastic allows you to easily view birds at the feeder. The four suction cups keep the feeder well mounted and prevent squirrels from accessing the food. Green rubber edging provides a comfortable perch for feeding birds. The see-through bird feeder is weatherproof, remaining in place even in windy winters. The top cover piece protects birds and food from rain and snow. If water gets into the food trays, moisture drains through the holes in the bottoms of the two largest compartments to prevent mold formation. The tray is easy to remove and clean, and you can quickly reposition the feeder with the suction cups. Birdious offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Performance

I was super excited to try out my new window bird feeder from Birdious! I bought some cardinal and friends bird food, and, as soon as my bird feeder arrived, I filled up the tray and attached the feeder to my front picture window. Setting up the feeder was very easy. I started by sliding the four suction cups into the holes on the roofed back. You have to work a little to get the suction cups in place, and the tight squeeze means the cups remain firmly attached to the feeder, even in the windiest weather. I then wetted the suction cups and pressed the back on to glass of my window. I finally filled up the tray with bird food and slid the tray onto the backing. Setup took only a matter of minutes.

Refilling and cleaning the tray of the Birdious window bird feeder is also incredibly easy. The compartmented tray slides in and out of the roofed back with ease. I can either remove the tray and add more bird food or pour more seed into the hanging tray. Washing the tray out is also super easy. Simply remove the tray from the backing and wash with hot soapy water. You can use a brush to remove gunk from the corners. So far I have not needed to wash my tray. Rain water drains through the holes in the bottom, and the birds take care of the seeds. I am excited to continue feeding all the amazing birds in my yard throughout all the seasons of the year!

I have experienced one problem with my Birdious window bird feeder. I had to move the feeder around to a number of windows on my house until I found a spot that the birds liked. I had hoped to watch the birds through my front picture window, but I found that a window on my garage suited the birds more. While removing the roofed back from one of my windows, the clear acrylic cracked. I was a bit disappointed that the plastic broke so quickly. I expected the quality to be higher. Luckily, the crack does not impair the function, so I have been able to continue using the feeder. I also plan to get some plastic glue to fix the break. I hope that my experience is just a fluke. However, I am disappointed that damage occurred to my feeder in such a short amount of time.

Update: When I contacted Birdious about the crack, the company sent me a replacement bird feeder. I am extremely happy with the excellent customer service from Birdious. I am chalking the crack in the acrylic up to a one-off fluke. I would definitely buy another Birdious window bird feeder and highly commend the dedication that the company exhibits towards keeping customers happy!

Final Verdict

The Birdious window bird feeder measures 6.5 by 4 by 9.5 inches and consists of a removable tray with three compartments for food and water and a roofed back with four suction cups. The clear acrylic plastic allows you to easily view birds at the feeder while the four strong suction cups keep the feeder well mounted and prevent squirrels from accessing the food. Setup of the feeder took me only a matter of minutes, and adding more bird seed is just as easy. The plastic is washable in hot soapy water, and holes in the bottom of the food compartments allow water to drain to prevent molding and other problems. However, while removing the roofed back from one of my windows, the clear acrylic cracked. I was a bit disappointed that the plastic broke so quickly but am super pleased with the customer service from the company, which sent me a replacement. Fortunately, the bird feeder still functions, even with the crack.
