Blueberry Coverall Diaper Cover Review

As my readers know, I prefer diaper covers with inserts over other types of cloth diapers. Most of my stash consists of Best Bottom diapers as well as Buttons Diapers and Flips. However, one cover that I have coveted for quite a while is the Blueberry Coverall in Elephant. I really liked the Blueberry pocket diaper that I first bought for overnight use when I switched to cloth, so I desperately wanted to try the Blueberry Coverall. Thus, a few months ago, I bought myself the adorable Elephant print.

The Blueberry Coverall is a one-size diaper cover that fits babies between 10 and 40 pounds. Made in the USA, the cover consists of a lightweight and waterproof 100% polyester fabric and latex-free elastic to avoid irritation for sensitive babies. Available in a number of colors and prints as well as both snap and velcro closures, the Blueberry Coverall works great with prefolds, flats, fitted and contoured diapers, and other inserts.

On the inside, the Blueberry Coverall looks similar to a Best Bottom shell. The Coverall features double leg gussets, which help hold in messes. I personally prefer double gussets over singles, so I really like the leg openings on the Coverall. However, unlike the Capri cover also made my Blueberry, the Blueberry Coverall lacks flaps on the inside. After trying many different types of covers, I have decided that covers with internal flaps and double leg gussets are my favorites. However, I have yet to have a problem with my inserts popping out the front of back of the Blueberry Coverall simply because the Coverall is such a large diaper. The large Best Bottom inserts that I use inside the Coverall fit inside a slightly smaller cover. Thus, the same inserts fit perfectly inside the Blueberry Coverall.

The outside of the Blueberry Coverall is also extremely similar to the Capri cover and other Blueberry diapers. The torso features three rows of three snaps that convert the cover from small to medium to large. Small fits babies between 10 and 15 pounds, medium between 15 and 30 pounds, and large between 28 and 40 pounds. My daughter currently weighs about 27 pounds and wears the Blueberry Coverall on the medium setting during the day and the large setting at night to accommodate extra inserts. Thus, I agree with the sizing recommendations on the diaper cover.

For the waist snaps, the Blueberry Coverall features two rows of ten snaps. Using the waist snaps, the cover fits babies between 9 and 21 inches. My daughter currently uses the second waist snaps from the middle, meaning she has a lot of room to grow. For thinner babies, the Coverall may be too large around the middle even on the smallest torso setting. However, for larger babies and older toddlers, the Blueberry Coverall provides a larger diaper cover with plenty of room to spare.

As I previously mentioned, the Blueberry Coverall runs larger than other similar diaper covers. Compared to a Best Bottom shell, the Coverall is noticeably larger on both the smallest and largest settings. The Coverall is therefore not a good choice for newborns or smaller infants but is a perfect addition to any diaper stash for larger babies and older toddlers.

In terms of performance, I am extremely pleased with my Blueberry Coverall. The cover works on my daughter both during the day and at night. During the day, I use a Best Bottom insert inside the cover. As long as I change her frequently enough, I do not have any problems with leaks with the Coverall. At night, I use a combination of inserts and flats. My daughter goes up to twelve hours without a diaper change at night, but, again, I have not had any leak problems with the Blueberry Coverall.

Final Verdict: If you are searching for a diaper cover for a larger baby or older toddler, I highly recommend the Blueberry Coverall. The double leg gussets securely hold in messes, and I have not had any problems with leaks. The torso snaps allow the cover to adjust between small, medium, and large sizes, offering a perfect fit for babies between 10 and 40 pounds. Most notably, the Coverall runs larger than other similar diaper covers. I rank the Blueberry Coverall extremely highly for older babies and toddlers.
