Last year I purchased a Blueberry Coverall diaper cover to try on my toddler daughter. Because I liked the cover, especially for larger babies and toddlers, I decided to also purchase a Blueberry Mini Coverall while putting together a small newborn stash for my second baby.
Price
Priced at $15.95 each, I consider the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover more expensively priced compared to other similar brands. The newborn cover from Blueberry costs $3 less than the one-size. However, I do find the newborn cover a bit on the pricey side.
Prints
I purchased my Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover in the Giraffes print, which is an orange, yellow, and green giraffe print on a white background with yellow trim. (I also own the one-size Blueberry Coverall in the Elephants print, which is a blue, gray, and green elephant print on a dark background with green trim.) In addition to the two animal prints, Blueberry also offers the Mini Coverall in almost two dozen colors and prints. In terms of variety, I rate the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover very highly.
Design
The Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover is a smaller version of the one-size Blueberry Coverall. Recommended for babies between 6 and 18 pounds, the cover is made of a waterproof fabric with a laminated interior and features double leg gussets made with gentle latex-free elastic to help contain messes. Made in the USA, the cover is lead-free, pthalate-free, and PVC-free. The Mini Coverall fits over a variety of diapers and inserts including fitteds, prefolds, contours, and flats and can be wiped clean for multiple uses between washings..
Because I prefer snaps, I purchased the Blueberry Mini Coverall with snap closures. The cover also comes in hook and loop closures. For both versions, the torso features three rows of two rise snaps that adjust the diaper to small, medium, and large rise settings. For the snap version, the newborn cover features two rows of eight waist snaps.
Laundering
As I have stated time and time again, any new diaper that I add into my stash must fit into my current laundry routine because, frankly, I am lazy in the laundry room. Between washes, I keep the dirty cover in a diaper pail with the rest of my cloth diaper laundry. On laundry day, I wash my Blueberry Mini Coverall with the rest of my diapers using a warm wash with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the cover to air-dry on my drying rack in front of a fan. The lightweight and waterproof polyester fabric with a laminated interior dries very quickly. I therefore rate the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover extremely highly in terms of laundering.
Performance
My son weighed 7 pounds and birth but could wear the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover on the smallest waist and rise settings. The diaper fit snuggly, so I agree that slightly smaller babies down to 6 pounds could wear the cover without any problems. By eight weeks and 11 pounds, he wore the cover on the largest rise setting with one set of waist snaps exposed. At four months and 15 pounds, he wore the cover on the largest rise setting with two sets of waist snaps exposed.
As with all my other covers, I primary use a Buttons Diapers or Best Bottom Diapers insert in my Blueberry Mini Coverall. The small insert fits perfectly inside the medium and large rise settings of the cover. I also used my Imagine flats in the cover on the smallest rise setting when my son was first born. I therefore rate the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover very highly in terms of versatility.
I consider my son a fairly heavy wetter, but the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover works on him both day and night. When wearing a high quality diaper, he goes two to four hours between diaper changes during the day and up to 12 hours overnight. I particularly appreciate the double leg gussets on the Mini Coverall, which help form a snugness around the legs to prevent moisture leaks.
The double leg gussets of the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover also help to effectively contain the messes associated with exclusively breastfed newborn poop. Despite some of the nastiness that my son has thrown at the cover, I have not had any problems with poop leaks or blowouts.

Final Verdict
If you are searching for a newborn cover in a variety of colors and prints, the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover warrants some consideration. At $15.95 per cover, I consider the Mini Coverall priced on the higher range. However, the cover is made in the USA from high quality materials that minimize irritation for sensitive skin. Recommended for babies between 6 and 18 pounds, the Mini Coverall also fits an infant for longer than most other comparable newborn covers. I definitely recommend the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover to any parent putting together a newborn stash.
