Borrowed Planet All-in-Two Cloth Diaper Cover and Inserts Review

I am a huge fan of all-in-two diapers. Although I do use some other types of cloth diapers, the majority of my stash consists of all-in-twos. My favorite style is the snap-in insert. I love the convenience of using a single cover multiple times along with the ease of keeping the insert securely in place with snaps. Thus, when I recently discovered Borrowed Planet, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to review an adorable all-in-two cloth diapers.

Borrowed Planet Cloth Diapers and Accessories

Price

The Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover currently retails for $12.68 Canadian, which roughly converts to $11.27 American. Bamboo inserts for the all-in-two cost $4.20 Canadian, or $3.73 American. Hemp/cotton inserts cost $5.78 Canadian, or $5.14. Because Borrowed Planet is based out of Cannington, Ontario, Canada, prices for American customers will vary based on currency rates. However, in general, the price of the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover is lower than other comparable covers. The snap-in inserts are similarly priced to other brands. In other words, the covers are less expensive and the inserts averagely priced compared to similar all-in-twos from other brands. I therefore consider the all-in-two from Borrowed Planet an economical cloth diaper option.

Prints

I received the Woodlands on White print from Borrowed Planet. The print features predominantly blue, green, brown, and gray colors on a white background. Trees and owls adorn the material. The diaper also features coordinating blue trim and snaps. Borrowed Planet also offers a number of other prints and solid colors in the all-in-two diaper while frequently adding more options. You are sure to find a diaper that fits your style from Borrowed Planet!

All Borrowed Planet diapers are designed, but not sewn, by the company. All fabrics are tested and compliant with Health Canada Regulations as well as tested in third party labs to ensure quality and safety. In addition to all-in-twos, Borrowed Planet also offers pocket diapers.

Closures

Borrowed Planet currently offers the all-in-two cloth diaper only in snap closures. I personally prefer snaps, so I am perfectly happy with the snap-only option. The torso of the cover features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist features a top row of ten snaps and a bottom row of eight snaps with two snaps on the top of the hip flap and one snap on the bottom. One side of the hip flap also includes two cross-over snaps on the top row for an even snugger small fit.

Inserts

In addition to the cover, I also received two all-in-two inserts from Borrowed Planet. The bamboo insert consists of 20% polyester and 80% viscous bamboo topped with a layer of 100% polyester microfleece. The hemp/cotton insert consists of 55% hemp and 45% cotton. Both inserts snap into the cover. The bamboo insert also snaps onto the hemp/cotton insert, creating a double layer of inserts in the cover.

Unlike my other favorite all-in-two covers, the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover offers a few different stylistic features. First, the inserts snap in with only one snap located at the front of the diaper. The single snap makes changing the inserts slightly faster. Additionally, because the interior of the diaper includes front and back flaps, I do not have to worry about the back of the inserts moving around inside the cover because the flaps hold the inserts securely in place. The Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover also offers double leg gussets and two layers of PUL fabric throughout the body of the diaper.

Other inserts and soakers also work inside the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover. I have used my Best Bottom Diapers inserts snapped in the cover as well as flats and fitteds. In other words, the cover is extremely versatile!

Fit

Compared to some of my other diaper covers, I feel that the Borrowed Planet all-in-two runs on the larger size. Even on the smallest rise setting, the diaper is larger than the smallest setting of many of my other covers. Thus, I recommend using the all-in-two for older and larger babies and toddlers rather than newborns and smaller infants. Because of the larger size, the cover works especially well over bulkier fitted diapers.

At 28 pounds and a little over two and a half years old, my daughter currently wears the Borrowed Planet all-in-two on the medium rise setting. Around the waist, she wears the cover on the third snaps in on both sides, leaving two additional snaps open on both sides. I am therefore more than confident that the Borrowed Planet all-in-two diaper will last my daughter well past potty training. Update: I have also begun using my Borrowed Planet all-in-two on my infant son. At six months and seventeen pounds, he wore the diaper on the smallest rise setting with one waist snap exposed. Because of the crossover snaps on the hips, I could also have used the diaper on my son earlier.

During the day, the combination of bamboo and hemp/cotton inserts inside the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover lasts my daughter for up to four hours without any leaks. By changing out the wet insert, I can then reuse the cover one or two more times because needing to launder the entire diaper. In addition to not leaking, the Borrowed Planet all-in-two also works awesomely to contain dirty messes. The double leg gussets securely keep solid waste inside the cover.

I am extremely pleased with the fit of the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cloth diaper. Again, the cover runs on the larger size, making the all-in-two a great option for larger or older babies and toddlers.

Laundering

Washing and drying the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover and inserts is incredibly easy. First, because of the natural fibers in both, the inserts require extra prepping prior to the first use. I washed and dried the inserts three times to achieve maximum absorbency. You can do one laundering prep session prior to first use, but do be aware that you will need to change the diaper more frequently at first until the natural fibers fluff up fully.

After the initial prep, I wash and dry my Borrowed Planet all-in-two cover and inserts following my regular wash routine. I do a warm wash with Rockin’ Green and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses to remove any detergent residue. I then hang the PUL cover to air dry. I also usually hang the inserts to dry, finally tossing the inserts in the dryer for about ten minutes to zap any remaining moistures. The inserts may also be completely machine dried. In other words, laundering the Borrowed Planet all-in-two cloth diaper is easy peasy!

Final Verdict

I am extremely pleased with my all-in-two cloth diaper cover and inserts from Borrowed Planet. The cover is less expensive than comparable covers, and the natural fiber inserts are priced similarly to other brands, making the all-in-two a fairly economical option. My favorite features of the cover include the double leg gussets, the snap-in inserts, and the front and back interior flaps. I also appreciate that the cover runs on the larger size, meaning the diaper will fit my older toddler well past potty training. If you are searching for a new all-in-two diaper to try — especially for an older or larger child — I highly recommend the all-in-two cloth diaper cover and inserts from Borrowed Planet.
