Origami is a fun and easy craft for kids to do. Paper is inexpensive, and children can spend a surprisingly long time folding paper into different shapes and then decorating their origami creations. So, in honor of my dog, Espen, my first endeavor into the art of folding paper is an origami puppy.
Step 1
Cut a piece of paper into a square.
Step 2
Fold the square in half from corner to corner.
Step 3
Fold down one edge of the longest side to form the first ear.
Step 4
Fold down the other edge of the longest side to form the second ear.
Step 5
Turn the paper over and fold down the middle section of the longest edge.
Step 6
Fold up the bottom point.
Step 7
Turn the origami puppy over.
If you or your kids want, you can also decorate the origami puppy as desired. Draw on a puppy face, or paint with child-safe paints. My personal favorite idea is to make a big daddy dog, a medium mama dog, and tiny puppy dog. Happy folding!
