ecoAble Bamboo All-in-One Cloth Diaper with Pocket Review

Have you heard of ecoAble? I absolutely love the wet/dry cloth diaper pail bag with handles and cloth diaper pail liner from ecoAble that I recently reviewed. I am also quite impressed with the pocket diaper with bamboo insert. Therefore, when ecoAble also offered me the chance to review a bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket, I again eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Price

The ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket currently retails for $15.99, which I consider extremely affordable for an all-in-one. Although a few less expensive brands currently exist on the market, most all-in-ones cost considerably more. I am therefore highly impressed with the price of the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket.

Prints

I received an ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket in a Farm print, which features red barns, green tractors, cows, chickens, and chicks on a white background, red hip tabs, and red snaps. (The diapers matched my ecoAble wet bag.) The brand currently offers almost a dozen prints (but no solid colors) for boys, girls, and both. While I would also like to see some solids colors offered, I rate the available print options from ecoAble very highly in terms of variety and color combinations.

Design

Recommended for babies between 8 and 35 pounds, the bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket from ecoAble consists of a 100% polyester TPU waterproof exterior and a 100% bamboo rayon interior. The soft bamboo material absorbs moisture while keeping sensitive skin dry and comfortable. The absorbent material is sewn in to the diaper. A pocket opening at the back of the diaper does allow for the insertion of extra inserts. Because of the attached soaker, ecoAble recommends this all-in-one as a great diaper to send to daycare or for anyone who views cloth diapers as too complicated.

As a one-size diaper, the torso of the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist features two rows of slanted snaps, ten on top and eight on bottom. The wings feature double snaps, hip snaps, and a crossover snap to ensure the perfect fit on the tiniest babies through larger preschoolers and to prevent wing droop.

Laundering

As with all natural fibers, the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket requires multiples washings to reach maximum absorbency. I used mine after only one initial wash, and I have found that the absorbency increased considerably after each subsequent washing. Because I am super lazy in the laundry room, any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket in a pail liner in my diaper pail. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on warm with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the ecoAble pocket diaper to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan, which typically takes about 36 hours. When I am in more of a hurry, I toss the clean, damp diaper in my dryer for 90 minutes. My only complain about the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket is the dry time. The sewn-in bamboo soaker takes considerably longer to dry than my other all-in-ones. However,  the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket overall fits into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Performance

At 17 pounds and a little over seven months old, my infant son currently wears the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket on the medium rise setting with one waist snap exposed. Because of the crossover snaps on the hip tabs and the additional small rise snaps, I agree that much smaller babies could fit into this all-in-one. My slender preschooler daughter, who currently weighs 30 pounds, fits into the diaper on the large rise setting with two waist snaps exposed. For the average child, the bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket from ecoAble should fit up to 35 pounds. For thinner kids like my daughter, the all-in-one may fit well past the recommended maximum weight.

My son typically needs a diaper change every two to four hours during the day, and I consider him a fairly heavy wetter. The ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket usually lasts him around four hours without leaking. I can also use the diaper on him overnight by adding an extra overnight insert into the pocket. The attached bamboo soaker absorbs a lot of moisture, making the diaper ideal as an overnight base. I usually stick two additional microfiber inserts in the pocket for overnight use. I therefore rate the bamboo all-in-one from ecoAble extremely highly in terms of absorbing moisture.

The bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket also works great at containing solid messes. My son just started solids after six months of exclusively breastfeeding. He generally eats only a few bites of food, if any, each day, so he is at the messy point between liquid EBF and solid food poop. This all-in-one effectively contains all consistencies of poop, from liquid to solid. I especially appreciate the double leg gussets, which typically help hold in messes better than single leg elastics. I thus rate the bamboo all-in-one from ecoAble extremely highly in terms of containing solid messes.

Final Verdict

As a fan of all-in-ones, I consider the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket affordably priced at $15.99 each. Recommended for babies between 8 and 35 pounds, the diaper fits both my 17 pound infant and 30 pound preschooler with plenty of room to grow on both. The sewn-in bamboo soaker absorbs a lot of moisture, and the double leg gussets help contain wetness and solid messes. The pocket also allows for the addition of extra inserts, which make the diaper ideal for overnight use. My only complaint about the all-in-one is that the sewn-in bamboo soaker requires considerably longer to dry, both machine and air, than my other all-in-ones. If you are shopping for a new moderately priced all-in-one, I definitely suggest the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket.
