I started cloth diapering over five years ago. When I switched my daughter to cloth, I quickly found that I liked all-in-two and covers with her. I have previously reviewed the wet/dry cloth diaper pail bag with handles, cloth diaper pail liner, pocket diaper with bamboo insert, bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket, and all-in-two with charcoal bamboo insert from ecoAble. When recently offered the chance to review the ecoAble cloth diaper cover in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to add to my stash. I received a size 2 hook-and-loop in Orange and a size 2 snap in Little Fox.
Price
The cloth diaper cover from ecoAble currently retails for $11.99 for both the hook-and-loop and snap versions, which I consider moderately priced compared to other covers of similar design. Many other covers of similar quality cost roughly the same. I therefore rate the price of the ecoAble cloth diaper cover favorably.
Prints/Colors
I received two diaper covers from ecoAble: Orange and Little Fox. Orange is an orange diaper with light blue trim and orange snaps. Little Fox is a light blue diaper with an orange, gray, and white fox print with orange trim and orange snaps. The brand currently offers around a dozen prints and color combinations for boys, girls, or both. I therefore rate the available print and colors options for the diaper cover from ecoAble very highly in terms of variety.
Design
Because my son currently weighs approximately 25 pounds, I selected the size 2 cloth diaper cover from ecoAble. Size 1 fits babies between 8 and 25 pounds, and size 2 fits between 15 and 35 pounds. The cover consists of breathable waterproof PUL with double leg gussets to help contain wetness and messes. Although available in two sizes, the diaper covers are also one-size. The torso of both the hook-and-loop and snap versions features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist of the snap version features two rows of ten snaps. The wings feature double snaps, hip snaps, and a crossover snap to ensure the perfect fit on the tiniest babies through larger preschoolers and to prevent wing droop. The hook-and-loop version features waist velcro and laundry tabs. Both versions include an interior snap for a snap-in insert and front and back flaps to keep inserts in place.

Laundering
As I have previously mentioned in my cloth diaper reviews, I am quite lazy in the laundry room, so any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty ecoAble diapers covers in a pail liner in my diaper pail. If using a snap-in insert, I typically leave the insert attached. For the hook-and-loop version, I made sure to attach the hip tabs to the laundry tabs. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on warm with powdered detergent followed by two cold rinses. I then toss all my clean diaper laundry in my dryer on delicate (low heat) for 80 to 90 minutes, although sometimes I air dry the covers. The ecoAble diaper covers fits easily into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the covers favorably in terms of laundering.
Evaluation
At 25 pounds, my 2.5-year-old son is a little peanut. He currently wears both covers on the medium rise setting. Size 2 fits between 15 and 35 pounds, so he is right in the middle of the recommend weight range and in the middle of the three available rise settings. On the snap version, four waist snaps are exposed. He wears the hook-and-loop version at roughly the same waist size. He has plenty of room to grow, and the covers would have fit him at a smaller weight as well. I thus rate the ecoAble cover favorably in terms of sizing.
For use with the interior snap on the covers, ecoAble offers a couple different options of snap-in inserts. However, I received only the diaper covers, so I have been pulling from my large stash of inserts. I have used a couple brands of snap-in inserts in my covers along with some inserts that simply lay inside the cover. You can also use flats or prefolds in the covers, and some fitted diapers will fit under the covers, especially the size 2. I have always liked covers because of the customizability of the cloth diaper design. The covers from ecoAble are no different.
I have tried many different brands and styles of cloth diapers, and I overwhelmingly prefer a diaper with a double leg gusset. In my experience, double gussets tend to contain moisture and messes better than single leg elastics. The two gussets help create a tight (but never uncomfortable) seal around the legs, which is extremely important for a very active toddler. The interior inserts on the front and back of the covers also helps contain solids and liquids by keeping the inserts in place. I never have to worry about an insert wiggling out from the front or back of the cover. I therefore rate the diaper cover from ecoAble extremely highly in terms of performance.
25 Pounds
Final Verdict
If you are fan of covers, I definitely recommend checking out the cloth diaper covers from ecoAble available in snap and hook-and-loop closures. At $11.99 each, the covers are comparatively and affordably priced. Available in two sizes, the size 1 cover fits babies between 8 and 25 pounds while size 2 fits between 15 and 35 pounds. The one-size design also adjusts to small, medium, and large rise settings for even more versatility. The double leg gussets, which I prefer, help contain moisture and messes, and the interior flaps at the front and back help keep inserts in place. Overall, I rate the ecoAble cloth diaper cover extremely highly.
