The First Years Insulated Straw Sippy Cup Review

Disclosure: I received two The First Years Insulated Straw Cups as part of an advertorial.

The First Years Insulated Straw Cups

Now that my daughter is an older toddler, I have been struggling to find a sippy cup for her. My favorite sippy cups that do not leak are too small for her. I find myself refilling her water multiple times per day. Larger sippy cups that I have tried either leak or simply do not work. When I cannot suck water out of the cup, my toddler daughter surely cannot either. Thus, when recently offered a change to review a two-pack of Insulated Straw Cups from The First Years, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

The First Years Insulated Straw Cups offer a better solution to conventional sippy cups that is spill-proof, leak-proof, break-proof, dishwasher safe, and BPA-free. The one-piece lid is easy to clean and assemble with just a twist of the lid. Plus, the single piece means no extra parts to lose. Each Insulated Straw Cup consists of a cup, a lid, and a straw. The First Years currently offers twenty-four designs with more expected in April. The First Years Insulated Straw Cups are available in two-packs at Kmart and in four-packs online at Target.

Assembling the Insulated Straw Cups from The First Years is incredibly easy. After filling the cup, insert the straw into the lid and then screw the lid onto the cup. To clean the sippy cup at the end of the day, unscrew the lid and detach the straw. I have washed my Insulated Straw Cups both by hand and in the dishwasher. Compared to my other sippy cups, The First Years Insulated Straw Cups is easier to clean because of the fewer separable parts.

I always give my toddler daughter a sippy cup of water in the morning so that she has easy access throughout the day. Although she is pretty good about keep her cups upright, sometimes she forgets and tosses her cup on the floor or couch. Thus, I need a sippy cup that does not leak. So far I have had great results with The First Years Insulated Straw Cups. If you turn the cup over and shake, some liquid does come out. But, for normal use, the sippy cup is great at containing spills. At most, only a few drops of water drip out when my daughter tosses the cup down.

As for the design, I received two adorable owl sippy cups. As a huge fan of owls, my daughter loves her new owl Insulated Straw Cups from The First Years. She gets super excited in the morning when I hand her one of her owl cups. She is also a little disappointed when both owl cups are dirty at the same time. I also think that the owl designs are absolutely adorable. The First Years also offers other designs to fit the personality of almost any toddler. Plus, the lids are interchangeable!

My only complain about my Insulated Straw Cups from The First Years is that the vent hole on the lid of the cup is extremely tempting for little fingers. I have already had to stop my daughter from sticking her finger inside. The temptation could be eliminated with a small piece of hard plastic mesh that protects the hole from curious fingers.

Final Verdict: Both my toddler daughter and I are incredibly please with the Insulated Straw Cups from The First Years. The sippy cup is easy to use. With only three separable parts, the cup is easier to clean. Plus, fewer parts means fewer pieces to lose. Unlike other sippy cups that I have tried, the Insulated Straw Cups are easy for my daughter to use and are effective at preventing spills. My daughter also loves the adorable owl design on her two cups. If you are in the market for a sippy cup for your toddler, I highly recommend The First Years Insulated Straw Cups.
