As a wife and mother who does half of the cooking for her family, I am also on the lookout for new products to try in my kitchen. When I was approached by Frigidaire a few weeks ago to review some Frigidaire Accessories from the Frigidaire Store, I immediately said yes. After being given a coupon code, I picked out three Frigidaire products to review: Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair, Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets, and Ecosential by Smart Choice Combo Cleaning Kit.
Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair
The first Frigidaire product that I reviewed was the Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair. The Frigidaire website describes this two pack of peelers with the following product description:
- Serrated edges allow cooks to peel the skin and leave the flesh of delicate fruits and veggies—even tough-to-peel ginger
- Even-Cut™ Julienne Peeler creates ultra thin, restaurant-style julienne strips
- Extrasharp steel swivel head blade equipped with “teeth” grabs carrots, potatoes or fruits cutting very thin, elegant strips for presentation flair
- Ergonomic for a comfortable grip
- Extra hardened steel blade stays sharp
- Eye cutter to remove produce blemishes quickly
- Dishwasher-safe
I was extremely excited to try my new Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair. When my daughter started eating solids at six months, my husband and I decided to skip the commercial baby food and feed her food that we prepared for her. Her first foods included sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, and beets, all of which require peeling. I, however, did not own a vegetable peeling, having not bought a new one after my husband broke the cheap old one.
Boy am I glad that I selected the Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair to try! When I prepared the last batch of beet baby food for my daughter, I peeled the skin off those vegetables so quickly and so evenly. The serrated edge of the peeler took the skin of the beets right off in a thin layer, leaving a nutritious vegetable ready for me to cook for my daughter. The handle fit perfectly into my hand, making the peeler even easier to use. I also love that I can just toss the peeler in the dishwasher for cleaning after use. The Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair gets two enthusiastic thumbs up from me.
Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets
The second Frigidaire product that I picked out to review were the Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets. I chose the red pot holders, which Frigidaire describes with the following product description:
- Recommended by Good Morning America and The New York Times
- Safe up to 675 degrees (F)
- Flexible, skid and slip-resistant
- Can be used as a pot holder, trivet to rest hot dishes on, or as an anti-slip pad under mixing bowls
- Dishwasher-safe
I love my silicon spatulas, so I was excited to try some silicon pot holders. I have to say that the Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets live up to the product description. Using these pot holders, I can easily take hot baking dishes and trays out of my oven without worrying about the hot bake ware slipping out of my hand. I also love that I can just toss the Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets in the dishwasher when this kitchen gadget gets messy. As a final note, I must also add that my daughter loves the Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets as well. When I am cooking or cleaning in the kitchen, my daughter loves playing with the Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets while sitting in her highchair!
Ecosential by Smart Choice Combo Cleaning Kit
The third Frigidaire product that I selected to review was the Ecosential by Smart Choice Combo Cleaning Kit. The Ecosential by Smart Choice brand of kitchen cleaners is an innovative line of eco-friendly cleaners designed for the home by the appliance experts. The Ecosential by Smart Choice Combo Cleaning Kit comes with three cleaning products: Stainless Steel Cleaner, Smooth Cooktop Cleaner, and Kitchen Surface and Oven Cleaner.
I first tried the Ecosential by Smart Choice Stainless Steel Cleaner on my stainless steel kitchen sink. My husband is notorious for making an awful mess of our sink. When I first tried the Stainless Steel Cleaner, I was facing some rust stains in the bottom of my sink basin from a cast iron pan. I had been scrubbing the stain for a few days to no avail with a brush, some soap, and water. When I used the Stainless Steel Cleaner, however, I was amazed to find that the rust stain wiped off with just a little elbow grease. From then on, I began using the Ecosential by Smart Choice Stainless Steel Cleaner to keep my sink clean. The Ecosential by Smart Choice Stainless Steel Cleaner gets two enthusiastic thumbs up in my book.

My next cleaning project was the top of the stove with the Ecosential by Smart Choice Smooth Cooktop Cleaner. My husband and I are both awful about getting the stove dirty. We are also awful letting spilled food burn onto the stove. To my pleasure, the Smooth Cooktop Cleaner is good at getting rid of many spills off of my stove. With a little elbow grease added in, the Smooth Cooktop Cleaner also gets off burnt on food. The Ecosential by Smart Choice Smooth Cooktop Cleaner works just as great as other stove cleaners but gets bonus points because of the eco-friendly formula.

The messiest part of my kitchen is by far the kitchen counters. My husband and I are always spilling crumbs and coffee and milk and baby food on the counter tops. Sometimes I really have to scrub to get the stickiest messes cleaned up. However, the Ecosential by Smart Choice Kitchen Surface and Oven Cleaner made cleaning my counter tops easy. With just a few squirts of the cleaning and a paper towel, I was able to get my counter tops looking clean and shiny again without too much elbow grease necessary. The Ecosential by Smart Choice Kitchen Surface and Oven Cleaner also gets two thumbs up in my cleaning book.

Final Verdict: I really liked all three Frigidaire products that I tried: Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair, Bold HotSpots Pot Holders/Trivets, and Ecosential by Smart Choice Combo Cleaning Kit. My favorite of the products, however, are by far the Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler Pair and the Ecosential by Smart Choice Stainless Steel Cleaner. However, I am very happy with all of the Frigidaire kitchen accessories that I tried and highly suggest Frigidaire to anyone looking for a kitchen gadget or cleaning product.
