Fugetek Solar Motion LED Light Review

Fugetek Solar Motion LED Light Review

With two young children and two small dogs, I want to light up the outside of my house for safety and convenience. I recently started installing solar motion lights around my home to provide exterior lighting without having to run new electrical wires. When recently offered the chance to review a solar motion LED light from Fugetek in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Price and Design

The Fugetek solar motion LED light currently costs $25.99 on Amazon. Powered by two LG rechargeable solar lighting batteries, the cordless light charges in any outside weather condition when exposed to direct sunlight. Featuring a streamlined design for no debris buildup, the solar motion light contains 38 super bright LED bulbs that provide 500 lumens of brightness. Suitable for exterior use in any location with at least six hours of direct sunlight, the durable and lightweight light is waterproof with a durable casing that protects the battery and lights from the elements. The sensor triggers the lights when motion occurs within a 15- to 30-foot range and a 120-degree angle. The light offers three working modes: dim to bright when motion detected, off until motion detected, and continuous on. The light remains on for ten additional seconds after motion ceases in the sensor zone. Mount the light to a vertical surface with the included screws.

Performance

I love installing solar powered lights around the exterior of my home. While I briefly considered running new electrical wires to light up the outside of my home, I quickly dismissed the idea when I discovered that I could easily light most of my yard with solar lights. I have opted to install my new Fugetek solar motion LED light on the corner of my house at the roofline. Fugetek recommends installing the light 11.5 to 13 feet off the ground for maximum performance. I found using the included screws to attach the light to my house quite easy. All you need is a screwdriver and/or electric drill to get the job done.

Operating the Fugetek solar motion LED light is also fairly simply. As recommended in the instruction manual, I fully charged my light prior to first use. I pressed the on/off button next to the motion sensor and left the light with the solar panels in direct sunlight for over six hours. Once the battery charged, I could then select the operating mode. Dim to bright when motion detected works well in areas in which you want a little bit of light all the time. I decided to use the off until motion detected to get the most of the batteries. I do not necessarily want lights on in my yard all night, but I do want lights to turn on when anyone walks around the outside of my house. However, I do appreciate that I can choose different modes based on my lighting needs.

With thirty-eight LED bulbs, the solar motion sensor outdoor lights are very bright despite the compact size of the unit. I personally prefer LED bulbs because even the smallest bulbs pack quite the optical punch. These bulbs shine with a blue white glow that is perfect for lighting up my backyard. I will also update my review during the winter months of the year when the sun shines fewer hours during the day. I am excited to see if the Fugetek solar motion LED light continues to work as well during shorter daylight hours.

I will add that switching between the lighting modes requires absolute darkness. If you want to change the setting during the day or somewhere not pitch dark, you will need to turn the unit over and place the solar panels flush against a flat surface. If the panels detect any light whatsoever, you cannot switch between the lighting modes. I discovered the quirk after contacting Fugetek. I feared that my light was malfunctioning because I had charged the panels in direct sunlight for a few days but could not get the lights to turn on. Once I turned the unit over to prevent any light from reaching the panels, I was able to easily and quickly select my desired lighting mode.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for an exterior light for your home that does not require running new wires to install, I definitely recommend the Fugetek solar motion LED light. The waterproof design includes 38 super bright LED bulbs that provide 500 lumens of brightness after a minimum of six hours of charging in direct sunlight. The light offers three working modes: dim to bright when motion detected, off until motion detected, and continuous on. Following the recommendation for installation 11.5 to 13 feet off the ground, I opted to install mine on the corner of my house at the roofline. The 38 bulbs pack quite a bright punch. The only problem that I encountered was with initially selecting my desired lighting mode. You must turn the unit upside down against a flat surface to prevent any light from reaching the solar panels. Overall, however, I am quite pleased with my new solar motion LED light from Fugetek.
