Fun Fall Family Activities: Visiting an Orchard

Autumn is my favorite season of the year. I love the cool temperatures, the changing colors, and the delicious flavors. My favorite fall foods are apples and pumpkins. I love eating a crisp, juicy apple freshly picked from the tree. I love baking yummy treats like apple crisp and pumpkin bread. Apple cider is one of my favorite beverages. The flavors of fall are my absolute favorites. So, for a fun family activity, my husband and I are planning a trip to a local orchard this weekend.

The number one activity that I am looking forward to this weekend is picking my own apples and my own pumpkin. Our local orchard offers U-pick apples and U-pick pumpkins. I simply cannot wait to ride in a wagon out to the orchard and field to pick my own produce! Picking our own apples and pumpkins will also be a fun activity that my husband and I can enjoy with our children for years down the road. I fully intend to take my baby to the orchard next fall to let him or her pick apples and pumpkins. Image the photo opps!

I am also looking forward to all the yummy fall food that I can buy from the orchard’s bakery. Cider donuts are number one on my list. I also want to get some fresh caramel apples and some homemade apple cider. (I will only drink the cider if it is pasteurized or after I heat it myself at home.) Just thinking about all the yummy fresh fall food that I am going to get my preggie little hands on is making me hungry!

Our visit to our local orchard this weekend is sure to be a fun fall family activity. Someday I hope our children love picking fresh apples, choosing a ripe pumpkin, and chowing down on yummy autumn foods as much as I do. I know that I am going to have a blast!
