The little instruction card that comes with the kite is not very clear, but my husband and I quickly inserted the cross rod on the kite and attached the included string. Assembling the kite took less than a minute. Once you are done flying, simply remove the cross rod and put all the pieces back in the case. I love the simplicity of this kite, and I love that I can store all the pieces and string in the handy handled bag. I do not have to worry about losing the rod or having the string tangle up on other toys.
Getting the kite up in the air was also very easy. My husband ran around for a while trying to get the kite up. My preschooler daughter and toddler son also tried a few times. Finally, I ran into the breeze while my husband launched the kite into the air. Once the kite caught the wind, I extended the string as far as possible. I was overjoyed to have finally flown a kite. My daughter also took some time piloting it, and my son loved looking up at the bright colors. Once my family was ready to head back home, I slowly reeled in the string and gracefully landed the kite on the grass. I had so much fun! I wish that I had tried kite flying again sooner!

Both my husband and I are incredibly impressed with the quality of this kite. For only $27.97, I honestly expected something smaller made of tearable plastic. My low expectations were happily shattered. The resin rods are very sturdy but also flexible to prevent damage should the kite crash. The nylon material is quite thick and strong. Even after my toddler and preschooler manhandled the kite a bit, it showed no signs of wear or tear. I expect the large rainbow delta kite with tail from Get Childish to last for many years to come!
