I love baking, especially during the holidays. In the weeks before Christmas, I spend days making all sorts of Christmas cookies including butter cookies, rolled sugar cookies, peppermint sugar cookies, and gingerbread cookies. I have a wooden rolling pin that I currently use but have considered getting a new one that I can toss in my dishwasher more easily. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a stainless steel rolling pin from GikPal in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
The GikPal stainless steel rolling pin currently costs $11.99 on Amazon, which compares in price to other similar rolling pins. Made from durable and food safe 18/8 stainless steel with quality construction that will last for years, the GikPal rolling pin offers a smooth metallic non-stick surface that will not adhere to dough. The straight rod-style rolling pin without handles provides better control and requires less force, resulting in a smooth roll. Unlike wood, the stainless steel will never crack or split. The non-porous metal prevents cross contamination and cleans up easily in warm soapy water. The rolling pin measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 16 inches in length.
I am quite impressed with my new stainless steel rolling pin from GikPal. Unlike my old wooden rolling pin with handles, I never have to worry about dough getting into the joints. The smooth and straight rod of the GikPal rolling pin does not contain any cracks or crevasses that can harbor harmful microbes. Washing my new rolling pin is also incredibly easy. The brand recommends washing the stainless steel in warm soapy water, but I must admit that I put mine in my dishwasher. I hate washing dishes by hand and put everything and anything in my dishwasher. The stainless steel comes out spotlessly clean every time!
Using my new rolling pin is equally easy. I love the longer length, which makes rolling out larger batches of dough possible. The lack of handles means that I can push down on either side of the pin and roll out my dough. The stainless steel offers a non-stick surface, so I can use less flour to prevent my dough from sticking. I am super happy with my new stainless steel rolling pin from GikPal and am excited to bake dozens of Christmas cookies this upcoming holiday season!
