I Is for Impala Handprint Craft

I is for impala! Help your toddler learn about the letter I by making a fun impala handprint craft.

Materials

  • Brown and black nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s right hand.
  3. Press the brown handprint into the center left of the paper with the fingers and thumb open.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s fingertip print.
  7. Press black fingertip prints onto the ends of all five fingerprints of the handprint and one black fingertip print on the handprint opposite the thumb. Reapply the black paint as needed.
  8. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  9. Use a paintbrush to paint a black pupil in the center of the thumbprint of the handprint and two angled antlers on top of the thumbprint.
  10. Use a paintbrush to paint “I is for impala” in black on the paper.
