Instead of a standard construction made from plastic, cloth, rubber, or another typical watch material, the JORD watch is built out of maple wood and features a scratch-proof glass face that is 30 millimeters in diameter. I do not typically wear a watch, but, at the urging of my wife, I agreed to try out the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch for several weeks. At first, I was sure the watch would rub uncomfortably against my wrist because of its wood design. However, the smooth wood actually felt very comfortable, even when worn for an entire day. The JORD Fieldcrest maple wood watch is also incredibly light. After a few hours I literally forgot that I was wearing the watch on my wrist.
When first placing the timepiece on my wrist, I found that the watch was slightly bigger than required. Thankfully, the watch is easy to resize with the help of a very small screwdriver. You can literally size the watch in only a few short minutes. JORD recommends taking the watch to a jeweler for resizing.
The wood grain face on the watch matched perfectly with the wood grain of the strap, with a slightly darker contrast that helps highlight the easy-to-read stainless steel dial and hour numbers on the watch face. The glass on the face of the watch is perfectly flush with the wood, and the stainless steel that surrounds the face gives the watch a nice modern accent. The JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch provides a classic watch design with a modern touch.
Changing the time on the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch was simple. Just pull the dial all the way out and twist. Push the dial in slightly from the time change position, and you can easily adjust the “day of the month” dial on the timepiece.
As I mentioned previously, the watch features stainless steel on the faceplate and the closing strap. To complement that stainless steel, all of the screws on the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch match with the same color. The typical observer will only notice the faceplate and elegant wood grain of this gorgeous watch.
JORD markets the maple Fieldcrest series wood watch as a unisex timepiece for men and women. The timepiece is big enough for a guy like myself but features a smaller faceplate that complements the smaller wrist of the average female. As a small woman, my wife feels the watch would not fit her small statue, but agrees that the average woman could also wear the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch. Because of the unisex design, the watch is perfect for different types of attire. The timepiece can be worn with a pair of jeans and t-shirt just as easily as a suit or business casual attire.
Because of the wood material, the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch is not fully waterproof. However, the timepiece does feature a splash proof design that protects against non-submerged incidents. If you need to clean the JORD maple Fieldcrest series wood watch, you can use a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice to carefully clean the wood. Because of the non-waterproof design you will want to follow cleaning instructions provided on the JORD website.
