During the warmer months of the year, I primarily wear sandals. I love the ease of slipping on a comfy pair of open-toed sandals that keep my feet cool. I am also pretty picky about my footwear. I prefer sandals that strap onto my feet rather than backless flip flips. I also prefer sandals with a little arch support rather than flat bottoms. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a pair of Playa sandals from Kamik in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
Price and Design
The Kamik Playa sandal for women currently costs between $28.00 and $50.01 depending on size and color on Amazon. Kamik footwear comes from a place of extremes, resulting in a complete line of outdoor footwear built to deliver superior comfort and reliable protection in the most extreme conditions. Playa is an open-toe sport sandal featuring three adjustable hook-and-loop straps and padded backstraps. The heel of the rubber sole measures approximately one inch. The upper consists of waterproof synthetic leather. The microfiber-lined EVA footbed features a quick drying moisture wicking lining. The imported shoe is available in six sizes from 6 to 11 and three colors (black, charcoal, beige).
I received a pair of black Playa sandals in black in size 6. I typically wear a size 5 or 5.5 but the size 6 fits me pretty well. Kamik recommends going up a size if you wear an in-between size because the sandals tend to run slightly small. I am glad that I went with a size 6 because the sandals fit my feet almost perfectly. The black features light gray insides with black straps and pink accents. I really like the dark colors, which go with so much of my wardrobe.
I am very picky about my sandals. I require footwear with arch support. I also hardly wear strapless sandals because I my feet and ankles end up hurting badly from curling my toes to keep the footwear on. I was thus super excited for my new pair of Playa sandals. The open-toe sport sandal featuring three adjustable hook-and-loop straps and padded backstraps, so the shoes remain firmly on my feet even when I am chasing after my two young children. I like that I can adjust the straps to fit my feet. I also like the hook-and-loop closures, which make slipping the shoes on and off quickly easy.
During the warmer months of the year, my kids and I head outside often to go for walks around town or head out on adventures. I am thus on my feet a lot, so I refuse to wear any footwear that rubs me the wrong way. I have been impressed with my new Kamik Playa sandals from the start. New shoes sometimes leave blisters on my feet, but I did not have any problems with these sandals. The waterproof synthetic leather on the upper is very comfortable on my feet. The microfiber-lined EVA footbed is also quite cushy and really does wick away moisture even on the hottest days. Even after a few weeks of wear, the sandals are holding up well. I would definitely buy another pair in the future!
If you are shopping for a pair of sport sandals that offer plenty of support, I definitely recommend a pair of Playa sandals from Kamik. Playa is an open-toe sport sandal featuring three adjustable hook-and-loop straps and padded backstraps, rubbers soles with heels that measure approximately one inch, uppers that consist of waterproof synthetic leather, and microfiber-lined EVA footbeds with quick-drying moisture wicking lining. I received a size 6 and recommend going up a size from your normal shoe size because the sandal tends to run small. (I typically wear a size 5 or 5.5.) I really like that I can adjust the straps to my feet and quickly pull the sandals on and off. I also love the support that the bottoms offer. Overall I am quite pleased with my pair of Kamik Playa sandals.
