‘Little Blue Truck’s Christmas’ Book Review

Christmas Reading List: 'Little Blue Truck's Christmas' Book Review

“Beep! Beep! Beep! December’s here! Little Blue Truck is full of cheer,” begins Little Blue Truck’s Christmas by Alice Schertle with illustrations by Jill McElmurry. My children and I fell in love with the Little Blue Truck books last year, and Little Blue Truck’s Christmas is one of our favorites!

Written for preschoolers, Little Blue Truck’s Christmas contains simple rhymed text that helps improve language development. In addition to the rhymes, the book also includes counting from one to five and five to one, making the story a perfect Christmastime read for young children who are also learning about numbers.

I especially enjoy the illustration style in Little Blue Truck’s Christmas. The colors are bold and vibrant, helping to bring the story to life for little readers. I consider the illustrations quite whimsical, which I love in a book written for children. Both my daughter and son like the series about Little Blue Truck, making this Christmas book ideal for girls and boys.

Finally, the most exciting feature of Little Blue Truck’s Christmas is the twinkle lights on the last page. When your little one gets to the final page, a Christmas tree lights up with twinkling Christmas lights. Last year as an infant, my son really loved seeing the lights blinking as I read the book aloud to him and his big sister.
