I first started using a car baby mirror with my daughter when I found one at a garage sale when she was about five months old. When my son was born three years later, I also used a mirror for him in the car. I keep my babies rear-facing for as long as possible for maximum safety. My daughter rode rear-facing until she turned 4, and my toddler still faces the rear of the vehicle. I like that car mirrors allow me to keep an eye on my young children while driving without my having to turn around in my seat. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review an adjust back seat baby safety mirror from LotFancy in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
Price
The LotFancy adjustable back seat baby safety mirror currently retails for $30.90 with a sale price of $16.90 on Amazon. Other similar mirrors range in price from $15 to $30 dollars, with most costing between $15 and $20. Although I find the full retail price a bit expensive, I would definitely pay the sale price for a car baby mirror, so I rate the price positively.
Design
Measuring 10.43 by 6.10 inches, the large adjustable back seat baby safety mirror from LotFancy features a wide convex angled mirror that allows for a clear view of baby. The shatter-proof, non-glass lightweight mirror with ABS plastic casing offers an adjustable angle through a pivot ball on the joint for optimal viewing without turning around. Setup is easy with the buckled straps that fasten the mirror to a headrest. LotFancy offers a one-year warranty and a money-back satisfaction guarantee.
Performance
My biggest complaints with my previous car baby mirror are that setup is difficult and that the mirror sometimes slides around. With the adjustable back seat baby safety mirror from LotFancy, I have not experienced either problem. First, setup is super easy. I started by wrapping the straps around the headrest of my van seat, buckling the plastic buckles, and tightening the straps. I then slid the pivot joint onto the reinforced back plate and then the mirror onto the point. Assembling and attaching the mirror to my car took only a matter of minutes. Finally, I adjusted the angle of the mirror so that I could see my son without turning around. Easy peasy! I thus rate the setup of the LotFancy adjustable back seat baby safety mirror extremely highly.
Second, unlike my previous car baby mirror, the LotFancy adjustable back seat baby safety mirror does not move around. Once I tighten the buckled straps, the back plate remains firmly in place as I put my son in and out of the vehicle and as I drive around. I never have to readjust the angle of the mirror either. Once set, the mirror remains in place. My biggest complaint with my old mirror is that the single strap allowed the entire piece to shift around too much. I was constantly readjusting the angle. The two adjustable straps of my LotFancy mirror keep it firmly in place. I am never switching back to my old mirror!
Finally, I love the wide, convex mirror of the LotFancy adjustable back seat baby safety mirror. I can clearly see my son in his rear-facing car seat without having to turn around, a dangerous habit while driving. My husband can also clearly see our son when he drives our van. My toddler son loves looking at himself as well. The shatter-proof non-glass of the mirror is a definitely must. LotFancy states that the mirror has passed safety crash tests. I would never put a glass mirror in my car because of the potential for injuries from broken glass in the event of an accident. And, although large, the mirror does not obstruct the rear view visibility in my vehicle. I am altogether impressed and happy with the adjustable back seat baby safety mirror from LotFancy!
Final Verdict
Young children should remain in rear-facing car seats until age 2 or longer depending on the maximum height and weight of the seat. The large adjustable back seat baby safety mirror from LotFancy allows for a clear view of my babies through a wide convex angled shatter-proof, non-glass lightweight mirror surrounded by an ABS plastic casing. Assembling and attaching the mirror to my car took only a matter of minutes. Once I tighten the buckled straps, the back plate remains firmly in place as I put my son in and out of the vehicle and as I drive around. Unlike with my previous car mirror, I never have to readjust the angle of my LotFancy mirror. The two adjustable straps keep it firmly in place. I can clearly see my son in his rear-facing car seat without having to turn around, and my son loves looking at himself. If you are shopping for a car baby mirror, I highly recommend the LotFancy adjustable back seat baby safety mirror.
