As a child, I loved eating ice pops out of the freezer during the hot summer months. The biggest downside to commercial ice pops, however, is the waste. The plastic wrapper from each pop eventually ends up in a landfill. In an attempt to reduce the garbage that my house produces, I have tried making homemade ice pops in the past. Unfortunately, I have not had much luck with other ice pop makers. Thus, I jumped at a recent opportunity to review the set of six Mighty Pops by Sunsella silicone ice pop molds, hoping that the silicone molds would be the answer to my homemade ice pop question.
Mighty Pops by Sunsella are a set of six silicone ice pop molds perfect for making homemade popsicles, frozen fruit pops, frozen smoothies, and other frozen treats. The silicone molds are BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Mighty Pops come in six bright colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and pink. Sunsella offers a 100% money-back lifetime guarantee on the molds.
Using the Mighty Pops by Sunsella silicone ice pop molds is incredibly easy. At first I was a bit concerned about one of the instructions on the box: Keep upright in freezer. Because the Mighty Pops by Sunsella do not come with a stand for in the freezer, I had no idea how to keep the molds upright during freezing. I tried placing the molds in between other items in my freezer, but the molds kept falling over and popping open slightly. I addressed my concerns to Sunsella and received a prompt response from the company: As long as I left an inch of air in the mold for expansion and secured the lid tightly, I could lay down the Mighty Pops by Sunsella for freezing.
Despite my initial difficulties, I am happy to report that laying the Mighty Pops by Sunsella down sideways worked. The lid did not pop off and create a mess. Sunsella tells me that the company plans to change wording on the box in the future to prevent confusion. Thus, Mighty Pops do not need to remain upright in the freezer. Additionally, I am very impressed with the quick and helpful response that I received from Sunsella. The company offers excellent customer service!
To use the Mighty Pops by Sunsella silicone ice pop molds, begin by pouring any liquid into the molds. For my first pops, I used pineapple juice. The Mighty Pops by Sunsella box also offers some recipe ideas such as frozen yogurt, chocolate pudding pops, and fruit juice pops. Pretty much any liquid-based food will work inside the Mighty Pops molds. The homemade pops that you can create are limited only to your imagination! Secure the lids into place, and place the filled molds in your freezer. Once frozen, enjoy your homemade ice pops.
One tip that I can offer for using the Mighty Pops by Sunsella is to run the frozen mold until some warm water for a few seconds to loosen the frozen treat. I keep my freezer on the colder side, so my pops froze pretty solid. Running the molds until water for a few seconds help loosen my pineapple pops from the sides of the molds. Rolling the molds up from the bottom also helps push the ice pops up during eating.
Washing the Mighty Pops by Sunsella silicone ice pop molds is also super easy. I placed the lids in the silverware rack of my dishwasher. I placed the base of the molds in the top rack. My dishwasher thoroughly cleaned my Mighty Pop molds. If you make a chunkier treat, I would recommend rinsing out the molds with water immediately after use to prevent food from drying to the very bottom of the mold. Mighty Pops by Sunsella can also be cleaned in hot, soapy water.
Final Verdict: If your family loves ice pops, I highly recommend the Mighty Pops by Sunsella silicone ice pop molds. With Mighty Pops, you can create your own homemade freezer pops in any flavor imaginable. Using Mighty Pops by Sunsella saves you money while reducing the amount of waste your family produces. Using the silicone molds is as easy as pouring in the liquid, securing the lids tightly, and freezing your treats in the freezer. Washing the molds is as easy as putting the Mighty Pops in the dishwasher. I am also incredibly pleased with the excellent customer service that Sunsella provided me.
I received a sample of Mighty Pops by Sunsella mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
