When I first decorated the nursery for my daughter, I picked out some adorable jungle animal wall decals that I placed above the twin bed. Wall decals are easy to apply and easy to remove. Thus, when recently offered a chance to review some wall decals from Modern Wall Graphics, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
I chose the Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers. The set comes in predetermined colors or customizable colors. I selected to customize the colors to better fit the color scheme in my nursery. I chose shades of blue because the walls in the nursery are blue. I also added in some pink and red because my daughter loves pink. The set comes with flowers, butterflies, bumblebees, and grass. In terms of technical specifications, the Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers are 100% removable adhesive vinyl wall decals. The peel and stick application and removal leaves no residue behind.
When my Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers from Modern Wall Graphics arrived, I was a bit surprised that each color was printed on a separate sheet. Instead of coming as large multi-colored images, the set required cutting and assembling. I would have to cut each smaller piece apart with scissors and put the colors together on the wall. The product description on the Modern Wall Graphics website could have been clearer about the assembly required.
Cutting the pieces apart was fairly easy. However, I did have some trouble with some of the smaller pieces inside the circle pieces as well as with some of the pieces that were printed close together. If you are bad at cutting with scissors, I suggest enlisting a more dexterous friend to help with the cutting portion of your wall decoration project.
I have mixed feelings about the application process for the wall decals from Modern Wall Graphics. The Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers comes with a clear top sheet over the colored pieces. To apply the wall decals, I cut out each piece and arranged the pieces on my wall. I then removed the paper backing from each image, applied the decal to the wall with the applicator tool included with the set, and then removed the clear sheet. With some of the images — especially the images with small, intricate details — I had a difficult time removing the top sheet. In fact, I tore some of the images attempting to remove the top sheet. Some of the red pieces also stuck to the paper backing, which I had to scrape off with my fingernails. Fortunately, my project was smaller than the total size of the decal set, so I had extra pieces with which to fix the problems.
Additionally, I also had some problems with the top sheet sticking to the images that I had already applied to the wall. Despite working on a clear surface, the decals wanted to remain attached to the clear sheet. When I tried to remove the top sheet, the image often peeled from the wall. I ultimately gave up on trying to use the dots intended to represent flight behind the bees and butterflies. No matter how firmly I pressed the dots onto the wall, the top sheet pulled up half. After trying without success on one, I gave up with the flight dots. Fortunately, my project still looks cute without the dots behind the butterflies and bees.
In addition to the problems that I had with applying the wall decals, I also found that the stickers are not very reusable. Although easy to remove from the wall, the stickers frequently tore upon removal. If you plan on reusing the stickers, be especially careful when taking the decals off of one surface. If you are not extremely slow and careful, the decals tear and curl up, making the wall decor unusable a second time.
Final Verdict: I have mixed feelings about the Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers from Modern Wall Graphics. The outcome of my decorating project is absolutely adorable. My daughter loves the flowers, bumblebees, and butterflies on her nursery closet doors. However, the application process was more difficult than necessary. I had quite a few problems with removing the clear top coat from the wall decals. I also discovered that, although removal is easy, the stickers tear easily, meaning the decals are not very reusable. Despite my problems, however, I am ultimately happy with the outcome of the Flower Bugs Wall Decals Stickers from Modern Wall Graphics on my nursery closet doors.
