Christmas ornaments make or break a Christmas tree. Although themed Christmas trees can be fun, I prefer to trim my tree with special ornaments. This year, I had the pleasure of showing my daughter all of my favorite ornaments for the first time. (She was too young last year to appreciate the holiday.)
First up is my assortment of shih tzu ornaments. My beloved dog Espen is a shih tzu. Whenever my husband and I find a cute shih tzu ornament, we buy one for him. In fact, he has more ornaments than our daughter at the moment! Of all my shih tzu ornaments, my favorite is the shih tzu with the stocking because the markings on the dog are almost identical to the markings on Espen.
Another of my favorite ornaments is the reindeer family that my husband and I bought together the Christmas before Poppy arrived. The ornament features two adult reindeer and two children reindeer. Inscribed on the ornament are the names James, Princess, Espen, and Heather. This year we will have to get another family ornament that includes the most recent addition to our family: Poppy.
Finally, hung on my tree are two sets of three ornaments that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Immediately after the birth of our daughter last year, my husband ran out to Hallmark to buy her a First Christmas ornament. He also bought three keepsake ornaments to commemorate our new little family: dad, mom, and daughter hot chocolate marshmallow family ornaments. To continue the tradition, this year we bought the dad, mom, and daughter snow cone family ornaments. I plan to buy a set of family ornaments each year from here on out.
