Newton Baby Wovenaire® Crib Mattress Review

Newton Baby Wovenaire® Crib Mattress Review

I must admit that neither of my babies slept in a crib. I tried putting my daughter in her crib a few times, but she disagreed with the sleeping arrangement. I never even tried putting my son in the crib. However, our crib mattress has gotten quite a bit of use. When my family and I live part-time in New York a little over a year ago, the crib mattress came with us. My daughter slept on the mattress on the floor next to the queen mattress that my son and I shared. I do not foresee an end to sleeping with my children any time in the near future, but I would eventually like both kids to have their own sleeping spaces. When recently offered the chance to review a Wovenaire® Crib Mattress from Newton Baby in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Evaluation

When my Wovenaire® Crib Mattress first arrived, I immediately noticed the lightness of the mattress. Crib mattresses are not typically too heavy, but the Wovenaire® is noticeably lighter than the other crib mattress that my kids have used. The UPS worker left the box outside my door, and I was a bit unsure whether I would be able to get the package inside my house on my own. However, as soon as I lifted the corner a bit, I realized that I could easily bring the mattress inside and through my home without any assistance. At only 11 pounds, the Wovenaire® is super easy for one person to move, change, and clean — even in the dead of night after an overnight diaper explosion.

In addition to the light weight, I also love that the Wovenaire® Crib Mattress is completely washable. The cover is very easy to remove by undoing the zipper. I have already washed the cover once since receiving the mattress at the beginning of the month. While I was taking photos, my son, who had been eating cheese popcorn, decided to run his powdery orange hands all over the top. He left orange handprints all over the white mattress cover. Luckily I was able to easily slip the cover off and toss it in my washing machine. I also appreciate that the core, which reminds me of uncooked Ramen, is washable with soap and water too. Kids can be incredibly messy, and I hate discovering that something that has gotten dirty is not easily washable. The Wovenaire® mattress is 100% washable, inside and out!

Finally and most importantly, the Wovenaire® Crib Mattress from Newton Baby is incredibly comfortable for the littlest newborns through toddlers and beyond. As soon as I unboxed the mattress, my toddler son insisted on laying down on it. I also curled up on the little mattress to test the comfort level. I must admit that I kind of wish that I had a queen-sized version. The polymer core is firm but comfortable. Newborns and infants should sleep on firm mattress with a tight-fitting sheet, and the Wovenaire® definitely fits the criteria for an infant mattress. Older toddlers and preschoolers will also find the mattress quite comfortable, so you can transition the mattress from a crib to a toddler bed.
