Nicki’s Diapers Diaper Cover Review

When I purchase cloth diapers for my stash, I always head online to Nicki’s Diapers first. As a fan of covers with various inserts, I am always on the lookout for new diaper covers. When the Nicki’s Diapers exclusive brand released a new cover, I immediately purchased one in the Cherry Cola Houndstooth print to test out on my daughter.

The Nicki’s Diapers diaper cover is a one-size cover that fits babies between 8 and 35+ pounds. Consisting of a waterproof but breathable material, the cover comes in a number of fun prints and both snap and velcro closures. I chose the Cherry Cola Houndstooth in snap, which is a black and red houndstooth pattern with black snaps. The majority of the other prints are chevrons of various colors. The Nicki’s Diapers cover works great with Nicki’s Diapers GreatFit Prefolds, other prefolds, flats, fitteds, and other inserts.

At only $10.95 each, the Nicki’s Diapers diaper cover is an extremely economical diapering option. I personally use my Best Bottom inserts inside the cover, but prefolds or flats bring the price per diaper change down considerably. Because the interior of cover is wipeable, you can you a single cover multiple times before laundering. I use one cover two to three times by changing out the insert before tossing the entire diaper in my wet bag. You could build a fully functioning stash with only a handful of Nicki’s Diapers diaper covers.

As a one-size diaper, the Nicki’s Diapers cover features three rows of three torso snaps that allow the diaper to convert from small to medium to large. My toddler daughter weighs about 27 pounds and wears the cover on the medium setting during the day. Overnight, I use the large setting to accommodate the additional inserts. I am confident that the Nicki’s Diapers diaper cover will last from infancy through potty training. The waist of the Nicki’s Diapers diaper cover additionally features two rows of 10 snaps. My daughter currently wears the cover on the third snaps, meaning that the diaper provides plenty of room for her to grow up through potty training.

Compared to my beloved Best Bottom shells, I really love the features of the Nicki’s Diapers diaper cover. The inside features front and back flaps that prevent inserts, prefolds, and flats from shifting around and popping around the front or back of the cover. If I could make one improvement to the Best Bottom shells, I would add internal flaps, so the Nicki’s Diapers cover offers the added feature that I want. The Nicki’s Diapers cover also features the double leg gussets that I love. Double gussets help hold in moisture and messes better than single leg elastics.
