Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One Snap Cloth Diaper Review

Nicki's Diapers Ultimate All-in-One Snap Cloth Diaper Review

When I first switched to cloth diapers five and a half years ago, I discovered an online cloth diaper store called Nicki’s Diapers. Although I have shopped at other stores, I have made most of my cloth diapers at Nicki’s Diapers. I am also a fan of the Nicki’s Diapers brand, which is considerably less expensive than many other brands. I have previously reviewed the diaper cover, pull-on diaper cover, newborn bamboo all-in-one, and one-size bamboo all-in-one. I therefore had to purchase a Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One to try on my babies.

Price

Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One is affordably priced compared to many other brands of all-in-ones. The diaper currently retails for $12.95 for solid colors and $13.95 for prints at Nicki’s Diapers. Nicki’s Diapers often runs sales on the Nicki’s Diapers Exclusives line of cloth diapers, so you rarely need to pay full price for the Ultimate All-in-One. Also try coupon code FIVE to save 5% off most purchases at the online cloth diaper store.

Colors/Prints

I purchased a Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One in Caramel Apple (green exterior with green snaps and brown interior). Nicki’s Diapers currently offers a rainbow of solid colors and prints, some limited edition. Additionally, the insides of many of the diapers coordinate with the outside. Nicki’s Diapers offers enough colors and prints to suit any taste. I rate the Ultimate All-in-One cloth diaper extremely highly in terms of variety.

Closures

Because I prefer snaps, I purchased the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One with snap closures. However, a hook and look closure is also available on all colors and prints. For both closure types, the torso features three rows of three rise snaps that adjust the diaper to small, medium, and large rise settings. For the snap version, the all-in-one features two rows of ten waist snaps plus one row of cross-over snaps for the smallest possible waist fit.

Design

The Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-one features a snap-in soaker pad consisting of fleece-topped microfiber that quickly pulls wetness away for ultimate absorption and stay-dry feel. The ultimate snap-in insert also includes a foldable panel in the front for extra absorbency. The exterior of the diaper consists of waterproof PUL with PUL guards on the front and back interior to prevent wicking. The interior of the diaper consists of super soft fleece. Gentle leg elastics work to keep messes contained with a snug but not overly tight fit. The all-in-one fits babies between 8 and 35+ pounds.

Laundering

As I have previously stated in my past cloth diaper reviews, I am lazy in the laundry room, so any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current laundry routine. Between wash days, I keep my dirty Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One in a pail liner in my diaper pail. I leave the insert snapped in the shell. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on warm with powdered detergent followed by two cold rinses. I then toss all my clean diaper laundry in my dryer on delicate (low heat) for 80 to 90 minutes, although sometimes I air dry all-in-ones on a drying rack when the atmosphere in my basement is not too humid. The synthetic fabrics dry quickly. My only complaint is that the snap-in insert sometimes comes undone in the wash. However, the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One fits into my cloth diaper laundry routine overall, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Evaluation

When I first purchased my Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One over a year ago, my toddler son weighed around 22 pounds. He wore the diaper on the medium rise setting with four waist snaps exposed. My tiny little peanut now weighs around 26 pounds at a few months shy of 3 years old. He now wears the diaper on the medium rise setting with five waist snaps exposed. He has plenty of room to grow in the diaper up to 35 pounds or more as recommended.

Although I typically prefer double leg gussets, the gentle leg elastics on the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One prevent leaks while keeping a diapered baby comfortable. I personally like that I can put the diaper on my son quickly without messing with unencased leg elastics. Diaper changes go extremely quickly when I am using the Ultimate All-in-One. The absorbent microfiber material means the diaper lasts a few hours on my son during the way, which is typical of his diaper use. The fleece lining keeps his skin feeling dryer for longer. The diaper also effectively contains solid wastes, and I have not had any major problems with leaks. Overall, I rate the performance of the Ultimate All-in-One very highly.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for an affordable all-in-one cloth diaper with synthetic fabrics, I highly recommend the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One. At $12.95 for solid colors and $13.95 for prints, the retail price is more affordable than many other brands of all-in-ones. Other positives of the Nicki’s Diapers line include the rainbow of colors available, the availability of both snap and hook and loop closures, the stay-dry fleece, and the extended fit for older toddlers. I therefore highly recommend the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One!
