I have a large yard and multiple small gardens, so I need a long hose to water all my plants. Fortunately a 100-foot hose reaches most of my yard, but lugging around a heavy-duty hose is often a pain, especially on really hot days. The idea of an expandable hose seemed really intriguing to me. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a 100-foot expandable garden hose and sprayer nozzle from Ohuhu, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to make watering my gardens a little bit easier.
Price
The Ohuhu 100-foot expandable garden hose and sprayer nozzle currently retails for $34.99 on Amazon. The hose is comparatively priced to other 100-foot expandable hoses. If the hose worked well, I would rate the price positively. However, mine has sprung a few leaks despite careful use, so I would not pay this price for this hose.
Design
Lightweight and space-efficient, the 100-foot expandable garden hose and sprayer nozzle from Ohuhu starts out at 33 feet and expands to 100 feet with water pressure. The hose returns to 33 feet when the water is turned off. The new shape design highly decreases friction and wear between the outer hose and inner hose, protecting the inner hose and prolonging service life. Lead-free brass rings ensure against water leaks at the connection points. The inner hose consists of 100% natural latex that is both safe and reliable. The outer layer consists of polyester. The hose comes with a bonus spray nozzle with eight adjustable water spray patterns.
Performance
I really wanted to love my new 100-foot expandable garden hose and sprayer nozzle from Ohuhu. With a large yard, I need a long hose to reach all my plants. Lugging around a convention heavy-duty hose quickly becomes tiresome, so I loved the idea of a hose that starts out small and expands but then returns to a smaller size. While the Ohuhu hose does expand and contract when I turn my spigot on and off, the inner hose has already developed a few leaks after only a few weeks of use.
Connecting the Ohuhu 100-foot expandable garden hose to my other hose or faucet is pretty easy. I love the lead-free brass connectors, which offer a tighter connection than plastic threads. With plastic threads, I usually have to add a rubber ring to prevent leaks at the connection points. As soon as I screwed the Ohuhu hose on, I was set to go. I did not have to undo the new hose and add an additional rubber ring. As promised, the brass rings ensure against water leaks. Brass also tends to last longer under pressure than plastic. I am therefore extremely pleased with the connectors of this hose.

I am also quite pleased with the bonus sprayer nozzle that comes with the Ohuhu 100-foot expandable garden hose. My previous sprayer recently broke, so I was stuck watering my garden with a stream of water or a watering can. The Ohuhu sprayer nozzle features eight water spray patterns for maximum flexibility: shower, mist, center, flat, cone, soaker, full, and angle. I can easily switch between the eight water spray patterns by turning the dial on the front nozzle of the sprayer. A metal triangle near the handle of the sprayer allows you to lock the sprayer in the on position so that your hand does not get tired or sore.
Unfortunately, my Ohuhu 100-foot expandable garden hose has already sprung a few leaks despite careful use after only a few weeks. The inner hose consists of 100% natural latex and the outer of polyester. I am completely bummed by the leaks. I loved being able to carry the unexpanded hose towards my gardens and then turning the water on to expand the hose the rest of the way. Unlike my heavy duty conventional hose, the Ohuhu expandable hose is very lightweight and easy to move around. Sadly, the latex inner hose is just not as durable as conventional hoses. I am still using this hose on one side of my house because I can position the leaks over some plants, but I am very disappointed that leaks have sprung up so quickly despite my best efforts to move the hose around extra carefully.
Final Verdict
I love the idea of an expandable hose, but I fear that the design still has too many flaws. Lightweight and space-efficient, the 100-foot expandable garden hose and sprayer nozzle from Ohuhu starts out at 33 feet and expands to 100 feet with water pressure. I therefore recommend the sprayer nozzle but not the 100-foot expandable garden hose from Ohuhu.
