Paw Choice Foaming Mousse Dog Shampoo Review

Paw Choice Foaming Mousse Dog Shampoo Review

I have two dogs. Espen is a shih tzu whose soft hair grows long unless cut, which I do every few months in the winter and every six weeks in the summer. Kenobi is a whippet-schnauzer who wiry fur grows to about two inches long. Showering both dogs can take quite a long time. Espen enjoys showers but takes forever to try. Kenobi dries fairly quickly but hates showers. A dry dog shampoo would made keeping both my dogs clean and smelling fresh between full showers easier. Thus, when recently offered the opportunity to review some Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

    Price

An eight-ounce bottle of Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo costs $15.97 on Amazon. Compared to wet shampoos, this dry shampoo is a bit more expensive than I am used to paying. However, compared to other dry dog shampoos, Paw Choice is priced similarly. Plus, with the dry shampoo, I do not have to spend time (or money) showering my dogs in the bathtub. I would definitely pay the current price again to purchase another bottle of Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo. I therefore rate the price positively.

    Description

I received a bottle of Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo in the fresh mango and pomegranate scent. Mild, safe, and good for sensitive skin and fur types, this dry shampoo contains a natural coconut-derived formula made with premium natural ingredients and no harsh chemicals. Made in the USA in a state-of-the-art, EPA-registered facility, Paw Choice shampoo is cruelty free and okay to use with topical flea treatments. More economical and environmentally friendly than wipes, this shampoo does not mask stinky dog smells but instead removes odor-causing bacteria. Paw Choice additionally provides world-class customer service and a satisfaction guarantee.

    Performance

My dogs can get quite stinky in between showers. Most recently, both ended up with little orange splotches in their fur when my children decided to toss tomato sauce from their highchairs onto the floor for the dogs to eat. For my first use of my new Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo, I bathed two fairly disgusting animals. And I am very pleased to reveal that this dry dog shampoo delivers fresh-smelling and clean dogs as promised!

I started by shampooing Kenobi followed by Espen. Using the Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo is incredibly easy. My dogs are never thrilled about standing on my bathroom counter for grooming, so I need dog products that I can operate quickly. To apply this dog shampoo, I simply removed the plastic cap from the bottle and then pressed down on the top to pump out the foaming shampoo. The pump works flawlessly to deliver the foamy mousse. To cover Kenobi, I used about ten pumps. For Espen whose hair is pretty long at the moment, I used about twenty pumps to cover his entire body.

After pumping the Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo onto my dogs, I used to fingers to massage to product into the fur and onto their skin. Neither dog loves being shampooed, but both relaxed a bit when I started rubbing the foam onto their bodies. Once I had the mousse spread over their fur, I used my dog comb to detangle any knots. I finally allowed the shampoo to dry thoroughly. From start to finish, using this dry shampoo on my dogs took only about fifteen minutes each. One bottle should last me five or six cleanings for both dogs.

Both my dogs were a bit fragrant and a little dirty when I applied the Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo. The natural coconut-derived formula made with premium natural ingredients quickly and easily removed the dried on tomato sauce from both dogs. The fresh mango and pomegranate scent replaced the stinky dog smell that my two fur babies had been sporting. After the shampoo dried, Espen and Kenobi looked and smelled fresh without the trouble of a full shower. The mango and pomegranate is sweet smelling but not overpowering. I spent the rest of the evening petting and occasionally sniffing my fresh pups.

The only criticism that I have of the mango and pomegranate Paw Choice foaming mousse dog shampoo is that the formula seems better suited for fur than hair. Hair tends to be longer and finer in texture than fur, which is typically shorter and denser in texture. As a whippet-schnauzer mix, Kenobi has fur. Once he dried, his fur felt clean and soft to the touch. As a purebred shih tzu, Espen has hair rather than fur. While he smelled and looked clean after his dry shampooing, I could feel a slight residue throughout his hair the next day. However, the slight residue that I felt on Espen is definitely not a deal-breaker for me. I love having the option of keeping both my dogs cleaner in between full showers.
