    Letter P Preschool Activities

    Objective: To learn about the letter P

    Book(s): Pablo, His Papa, and the Letter P by Cynthia Klingel and Robert B. Noyed

    Music: “The Letter People – Meet Mr. P” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHhaoIiOqcM)

    Fine Motor Skills:

    • Uppercase page 18
    • Lowercase page 16

    American Sign Language: Hold the index and middle fingers straight down. Put the thumb between the index and middle fingers. Rest the other two fingers on the palm. (https://parentingpatch.com/baby-sign-language-fingerspelling-p-q-r/)

    Craft/Activity 1: Little Letter P Book

    Materials

    • Little Letter P Book template (http://www.themeasuredmom.com/letter-p-songs-rhymes-free-book/)
    • Blank paper
    • Stapler

    Directions

    1. Print the Little Letter P Book template onto the blank paper.
    2. Cut an even line across the center of the page.
    3. Fold the two sheets to make a book.
    4. Staple the book together.
    5. Read the Little Letter P Book.

    Craft/Activity 2: Coffee Filter Peacock (http://www.themeasuredmom.com/letter-p-crafts-2/)

    Materials

    • Coffee filter
    • Food coloring
    • Water
    • Paintbrush
    • Blue and orange paper
    • Google eyes
    • Glue

    Directions

    1. Add the food coloring to the water.
    2. Use the paintbrush to “paint” the coffee filter with the colored water.
    3. Allow the coffee filter to dry.
    4. Cut a figure 8 shape with a larger bottom from the blue paper.
    5. Cut a small orange triangle from the orange paper.
    6. Glue the orange triangle and two google eyes on the blue 8 shape to form a peacock face.
    7. Glue the blue 8 shape onto the colored coffee filter.

    Craft/Activity 3: Pink Ps

    Materials

    • Letter P template (http://www.quality-kids-crafts.com/support-files/letter-p-template.pdf)
    • Blank paper
    • Pink paper
    • Scissors
    • Glue stick

    Directions

    1. Print the letter P template onto the blank paper.
    2. Cut the pink paper into small squares.
    3. Glue the pink squares onto the letter Ps.

    Optional: Set the finished P craft aside to bind into a book at the end of the alphabet lesson.
