    Mammals Preschool Activities

    Objective: To learn about mammals

    Message: Mammals are animals with hair or fur. Mother mammals make milk that baby mammals drink. People are mammals.

    Craft/Activity 1: Circle Cat Craft

    Materials

    • Circle cat craft head and body templates (http://www.dltk-kids.com/t.asp?b=m&t=http://www.dltk-kids.com/animals/image/bcirclecat.gif and http://www.dltk-kids.com/t.asp?b=m&t=http://www.dltk-kids.com/animals/image/bcirclecat2.gif)
    • Blank paper
    • Scissors
    • Glue stick

    Directions

    1. Print the cat head and body templates onto the paper.
    2. Cut out the shapes from the templates.
    3. Glue the shapes together to form a cat.

    Optional: Cut the shapes from the templates from construction paper.

    Craft/Activity 2: Paper Plate Polar Bear (http://artsymomma.com/2014/02/paper-plate-polar-bear-craft.html)

    Materials

    • Paper plate
    • White and black paper
    • Cotton balls
    • Scissors
    • Glue

    Directions

    1. Cut the white paper into two circles.
    2. Glue the white circles onto the edge of the paper plate.
    3. Cover the plate and circles with cotton balls.
    4. Cut the black paper into three large circles and a mouth.
    5. Cut the white paper into two small circles.
    6. Glue the white circles on two of the black circles.
    7. Glue the eyes, nose, and mouth on to paper plate.
    8. Display the paper plate polar bear.

    Craft/Activity 3: Mammal Magazine Collage

    Materials

    • Old magazines
    • Scissors
    • Blank paper
    • Glue or glue stick

    Directions

    1. Find pictures of mammals in the magazines.
    2. Cut out the mammals.
    3. Glue the mammals onto the blank paper.
    4. Display the mammal collage.
