‘The Reindeer Christmas’ Book Review

The Reindeer Christmas by Moe Price with illustrations by Atsuko Morozumi tells the story of the origins of Santa’s sleigh and reindeer. After Santa hurries home on foot through the woods one Christmas morning, the elves decide to design a sleigh that will help Santa deliver gifts on Christmas Eve. However, the questions still remains: Who will pull the sleigh?

As most young readers know, reindeer pull Santa’s sleigh. The Reindeer Christmas tells the story of how Santa chose the reindeer to pull his sleigh. Children and adults will delight in reading about all the mishaps Santa encountered as he interviewed different animals in his quest to find the perfect animal. I particularly enjoy the mishaps with the crocodiles and the huskies!

Although recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 8, younger readers can still enjoy the story, especially the pictures. My toddler daughter loved pointing out Santa in the different illustrations throughout the book. She also liked looking at the different animals. I also enjoyed pouring over the details of the slightly whimsical pictures on each page.

This book offers a story about the origins of those reindeer. Additionally, the slightly whimsical pictures help bring the story to life, both readers both younger and older. If you are looking for a book to read with your child this holiday season, I highly recommend The Reindeer Christmas.
