As a breastfeeding mother, I need a good nursing bra to provide me support and coverage when out and about. Back in November, I reviewed the Molded Seamless Washable Nursing Pads by Baby Nip from Nursing Bra Express. Because of my positive experience with the nursing pads, I eagerly accepted when recently offered the opportunity to review the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express.
Price
The Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express currently retails for $22, which I consider priced extremely reasonably compared to other similar nursing bras. Many of my other high-quality bras cost $40 or more, so I rate the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra extremely highly in terms of price.
Design
Made from polyester, spandex, cotton, and nylon, the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express is a seashell pink molded, microfiber nursing bra with soft, light fleece lined cups with lace overlay on the sides only for a smooth look under shirts. Trim at the tops of the cups adds feminine detail. The delicate nursing bra features adjustable straps, three rows of hook-and-eye closures, and easy drop cups for easier feeding. Best of all, the bra includes no padding and no underwire for a more comfortable breastfeeding experience all day! The Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express is currently available in a variety of sizes: 34 to 40 B, C, D, DD/E; 42 C, D, DD/E; and 44 D, DD/E.
Laundering
I hate hand washing my laundry, so I require a bra that withstands machine washing. I am pleased to report that the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express comes out of the washing machine beautifully. After closing the hook-and-eye closures, I put the bra in a delicates bag and wash it with the rest of my regular laundry. Once the bra is clean, I hang it on my drying rack in front of a fan. Despite repeated machine washes over the past few weeks, the nursing bra is still in excellent condition. I therefore rate the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra extremely highly in terms of laundering.
Performance
Although I used to wear padded bras with underwires exclusively, breastfeeding significantly changed my preference. Now I cannot wear a stiff bra for too long without discomfort. Thus, the no padding and no underwire on the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express caught my attention right away.
Of all my non-sports and non-sleep bras, the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra is my absolute new favorite. First, I love the pink color! I wear a lot of pink, so the bra works perfectly under so many of my clothes. Second, although more feminine options aside from nude, white, and black are increasingly available, I have had trouble finding nursing bras in fun colors. The pretty seashell pink of the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra adds a sweet pop of color to my delicates drawer.
Second, the lack of padding and underwire makes the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express incredibly comfortable for all-day use. I can put the nursing bra on in the morning and go all day without wanting to rip it off under my shirt. With some of my other nursing bras, I find myself feeling uncomfortable, especially when wires rub me uncomfortable under my armpits. The Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra, however, is so silky soft that I can comfortably wear it from morning to night. The lack of stiff wires means that I never get red marks on my skin from rubbing and chafing. I rate the bra extremely highly in terms of comfort.
The easy drop cups make feeding my son incredibly easy. I can quickly and discretely unsnap the cup to allow my son access for nursing. I especially appreciate that I can undo the hooks with one hand, meaning that I can hold my wiggly infant son while unsnapping my nursing bra. I rate the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express incredibly highly in terms of ease-of-use.
Finally, my son and I both love the soft material of the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra. In addition to the lack of underwire, I love the feel of the super comfortable microfiber against my delicate skin. My son also seems to like the fabric. He often wraps his little fingers around the top band of the easy drop cup or even rubs his free hand on the smooth material. Not only is the design of the nursing bra comfortable, but the fabric provides maximum comfort to lactating breasts as well.
Final Verdict
If you are shopping for a molded nursing bra without padding or underwires, I highly recommend the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express. At only $22, the nursing bra is extremely affordable compared to other similar options. I personally love the pretty pink color. Most importantly, I can comfortably wear the bra from morning until night. The lack of underwires means that the nursing bra never rubs me the wrong way. In fact, of all my nursing bras, the Silky Micro-Fleece Nursing Bra by Nursing Bra Express is currently one of my most preferred.
