Although recommended for older readers, the simplicity of the language and the colorful illustrations also make Thanksgiving (Holidays and Celebrations Series) a great book to read with toddlers and preschoolers in preparation for the holiday.
Thanksgiving (Holidays and Celebrations Series) offers a simple overview of the holiday. After a brief introduction, the book tells the story of the first Thanksgiving during the time of the Pilgrims. Upon explaining the origin of the holiday, the book then discusses modern Thanksgiving celebrations including the meal served and other celebrations.
The illustrations by Todd Ouren that accompany the text are absolutely darling. My daughter especially enjoyed pointing out the different foods served at the original and modern Thanksgiving meals. Even the youngest toddlers can enjoy Thanksgiving (Holidays and Celebrations Series) because of the pictures.
