Last month I reviewed an adorable all-in-one cloth diaper from Winning Colors Baby. In addition to the all-in-one, I also received a semi-custom cover. Because I am a huge fan of diaper covers and because I was so thrilled with the performance of the all-in-one, I was eager to use the adorable polka dot cover on my newborn son.

Price
Semi-custom diapers from Winning Colors Baby range in price from $20 to $30. Covers cost $5 less than all-in-ones and all-in-twos. One-size diapers cost $5 more than sized diapers. I received a small cover with side snaps that retails for $20. Compared to similar semi-custom cloth diaper WAHM shops, I consider the diapers from Winning Colors Baby reasonably priced. Compared to name brand covers, Winning Colors Baby diapers retail for only slightly more. Plus you get a semi-custom design! I therefore rate the pricing of the diapers from Winning Colors Baby very highly.
Materials and Construction
I reviewed cute diaper cover in the Dot You See Me? print from Winning Colors Baby. The exterior of the cover features a blue, gray, and green polka dot print on a white background with dark blue and lime green side snaps. The interior of the diaper features microfleece and a PUL flap on the front. I also received a Stay Dry micro booster with my all-in-one that I have also used with the cover. Most of the time, I use a small Buttons Diapers insert in the cover, which fits perfectly!
Looking at the construction of the diaper, I find even stitching that I consider extremely professional. As with the all-in-one, if I did not know that Winning Colors Baby was a WAHM shop, I would believe that my diaper were commercially sewn. I am definitely impressed with the overall design and construction of this cover.
Laundering
I am extremely lazy in my laundry room, so I require a diaper cover that fits into my current cloth diaper laundry routine. On laundry day, I toss my diaper pail full of dirty diapers including my Winning Colors Baby cover in my washing machine for a warm heavy wash with some Rockin’ Green and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the clean cover to air dry in a front of fan on my drying rack. The cover dries as quickly as my other lined covers. I also sometimes toss the dry cover in my dryer for about 10 minutes to zap any remaining moisture. I therefore rate my Winning Colors Baby cover extremely highly for ease of washing and drying.
Performance
Winning Colors Baby recommends a weight range of 10 to 20 pounds for the small cover. My newborn son currently weighs around 7 pounds. As a result of his size, the cover is still a bit big on him. However, despite a small gap around his legs, I have had pretty good success with the cover on him. By three months and 14 pounds, the cover fit him quite well. He wore the diaper on the third set of hip snaps on one side and the second set on the other. At six months and seventeen pounds, he wore the cover on the second set of hip snaps on both sides. (Note: I will update my review as soon as my son stops fitting into his Winning Colors Baby cover.)
As I previously mentioned, I generally use a small Buttons Diapers insert in my Winning Colors Baby cover. However, other soakers such as prefolds and flats work well too. Because I primarily use Best Bottom Diapers and Buttons Diapers inserts in all my covers, I love that the Winning Colors Baby cover also works with my preferred diaper insert.
Because the cover is still a bit big on my son, I do have to watch out for leaks around the legs because of a slight gap. However, in the month between his birth and now, he has gained some weight including some chub in his thighs. As a result of his weight gain, my Winning Colors Baby cover already fits my son a little better. I am thus confident that the cover will continue to fit him and fit him even better as he grows.
As for the snaps, my son currently wears the cover on the smallest waist setting. The cover provides small, medium, and large waist settings. In addition to my son growing into the body of the diaper better, I am confident that the cover from Winning Colors Baby will continue to fit him around the waist for quite a while.

Final Verdict
I am definitely pleased with my semi-custom cloth diaper cover from Winning Colors Baby. Compared with commercial brands and other WAHM shops, I consider the price of the cover extremely reasonable. The materials and construction of the diaper are also comparable to commercially produced diapers. Laundering the diaper fits perfectly into my current wash routine, and, although my son is still a bit small for the small diaper for a perfect fit, I have still had success with the cover on him. Most importantly, I am confident that this cover will fit my son well within the recommended weight range of 10 to 20 pounds. I highly recommend checking out Winning Colors Baby for your cloth diaper cover needs!
