Throughout the daytime, I diaper my daughter exclusively with Best Bottom Diapers. At night, however, I use a Flip cover stuffed with a Stay Dry Best Bottom insert, a microfiber overnight Best Bottom insert, and a FuzziBunz minky insert. Although I can stuff three inserts into a Best Bottom shell for overnight, I love the flaps on the Flip inserts during the nighttime.
During the day, I cannot stand wresting with getting an insert to just lay under the Flip flaps. However, at night, the flaps hold the combination of a Stay Dry Best Bottom insert, a microfiber overnight Best Bottom insert, and a FuzziBunz minky insert in place perfectly. The flaps also ensure that the inserts do not sneak out the front or back of the diaper while my daughter rolls around in her sleep, which can cause moisture to wick onto her pajamas and the bed.
I currently own six Flip covers for nighttime cloth diapering: Dazzle, Moonbeam, Ribbit, Sassy, Twilight, and Zinnia. All six are solid colors without any embellishments. While searching for some similar diapers covers in fun prints, I recently came across Wolbybug from Knickernappies. My daughter is my little ladybug, so, when I saw the ladybug (red with black dots and black snaps), I knew that I found another cloth diaper cover to try.
In general, I am really happy with my Wolbybug diaper cover. First, I love the red and black Ladybug print. Wolbybug is also available in a number of other solid colors and fun prints. If I had not previously purchased the six Flip covers that I had, I would definitely have considered getting some of the other Wolbybug covers just for the prints such as Pink Dot and Lilypad.
Second, I love the elasticized back flap on the interior of the Wolbybug cover. One of my complaints about the Flip diaper cover is that the back flap is a bit narrow. Sometimes the inserts shift out of place while I am putting the diaper on my daughter. I therefore always must make sure that the back flap has remained in the correct position after I put a Flip on my daughter. With the Wolbybug cover, however, I never have to worry about the back flap because of the elastic.
Although I generally prefer double leg gussets on my diapers, the Wolbybug cover is only a single leg gusset diaper. However, for overnight, I have had absolutely no problems with leaks with my Wolbybug. A double leg gusset would have been nice but is definitely not necessary with my daughter during the night.
The one feature of my Wolbybug diaper cover that I am not particularly is the hip snap configuration. On my Best Bottom shells, there is a single row of hip snaps with two snaps. On my Flip covers, there is a double row of hip snaps with one snap on each row. On the Wolbybug cover, there is a double row of hip snaps but three snaps, two on the top row and one on the bottom row. I find the configuration of three snaps a bit weird and a bit overkill. For overnight, I really like the Flip hip snap configuration. Although functional, the three snaps on the Wolbybug cover can get a little annoying, especially when I am trying to get a wiggly toddler ready for bed. The three snaps are definitely not a deal breaker for the Wolbybug. I am just not a huge fan of the hip snap configuration on this particular diaper cover.
Final Verdict: With two rows of three torso snaps, Wolbybug diaper covers are a one-size waterproof diaper cover that should fit from birth through potty training. At just $10.99 each, Wolbybug covers are definitely an economical option. I personally love my Ladybug Wolbybug on my daughter for overnight cloth diapering. Although I am not too fond of the hip snap configuration, I would definitely buy more Wolbybug covers if I needed more nighttime diapers. If you are looking for an affordable diaper cover, then I highly recommend Wolbybug.
