Spirit Halloween, the largest Halloween retailer in the United States, has unveiled its top family-friendly costume trends of 2025. With over 1500 stores opening across North America for the spooky season, Spirit Halloween is ready to welcome families this month to shop the 2025 line-up.
My kids recently shared their predictions for the most popular Halloween costumes of 2025 based on what their friends are wearing, and now Spirit Halloween has released its predictions for the most in-demand family-friendly costumes.

KPop Demon Hunters
With more than 266 million streams, KPop Demon Hunters has shattered viewing records as Netflix’s most-watched title ever – and now it’s set to take over Halloween.
Bright, fun, and funky, Spirit Halloween is debuting the only officially licensed costumes from the worldwide sensation, giving fans the chance to channel the supernatural, K-pop-star energy of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey from the powerhouse group HUNTR/X.
My children are definitely familiar with KPop Demon Hunters, and they have watched the movie, but we are just a bit above the target audience to be a part of the phenomenon. We missed out on this pick in our top Halloween costumes for 2025. As of September 21, the costumes are still listed as “coming soon” to the Halloween costume chain, and Spirit Halloween will be the exclusive provider of KPop Demon Hunters costumes this year.
Lilo and Stitch
‘O’Hana means family,’ and Spirit Halloween has the whole family covered for Lilo and Stitch fans. From adult Stitch as Elvis costumes, to Stitch, Angel, and Scrump children’s onsies, to adult Lilo dresses, everyone in the house will have something to choose from.
We loved the new Stitch live-action movie, and one of my kids is a big Stitch fan, so we also picked the Hawaiian duo as one of our favourite choices this year.
SpongeBob SquarePants
In anticipation of his next big-screen splash, ‘Search for Squarepants,’ SpongeBob has once again found a spot in children’s hearts…or maybe he never left. Spirit Halloween is predicting that their nautical nonsense line, which includes SpongeBob, Patrick Star, Plankton, and even a Krusty Crab employee, will be a hot costume next month.
SpongeBob has been around for a very long time, even since I was a young adult. We did not include the crew from Bikini Bottom on our favorite costume list, but we like this suggestion nonetheless.
The Spirit Halloween lineup includes costumes for both children and adults, which makes sense given the series’ longevity and the lifelong fans it has earned along the way. This makes it an excellent option for families seeking a shared theme for the 2025 Halloween season.
Wicked
As Wicked: For Good hits theaters this November, the Broadway-to-big-screen moment is casting a major spell on Halloween fashion for 2025.
Glinda and Elphaba-inspired looks, complete with their respective glittering crowns and classic black witch hats, will be some of the most popular looks for besties, and the Wizard of Oz provides the ultimate classic look to create a group fit that’s pure magic.
Spirit Halloween is projecting that the characters from Wicked will be in abundance this Halloween. My kids also selected Wicked as one of their top 13 costumes for 2025.
Superheroes
Suit up! Superhero mania is in full effect with Fantastic Four: First Steps inspiring bold new takes on Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman. Meanwhile, over 30 new Spider-Man looks from across the multiverse are swinging into Spirit Halloween stores, including Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, AKA Ghost Spider, and the classic Spider-Man suit. Other caped crusaders available to soar out of Spirit Halloween stores are Batman, Superman, and Shazam. When my family created our list, we zoomed in on Superman as our leading superhero. That prediction was based on the success of the new Superman movie this past summer. Assuming there is no kryptonite in store, we are going to stick to our Superman nod, especially now that the movie has arrived on HBO Max just in time for spooky season.
There are many fun and spooky Halloween choices available this year at Spirit Halloween stores across the country. I am excited to see the children out trick-or-treating and witness how all the predictions fare. My own children haven’t decided what they’re going to be yet, but a trip to our local Spirit Halloween is a spooky season tradition! Happy costume hunting!
