The Billion-Dollar Film’s Digital Release Is Almost Here

After becoming one of the biggest theatrical hits of 2026, Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is heading home. The film will be available to purchase or rent digitally on August 18, giving families a chance to watch the latest adventure from home, with a physical 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release following on September 22.
Parents looking to add the movie to their family’s digital collection will be able to find it through the usual digital movie platforms. The home release will also include bonus material, including deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes and music videos for Taylor Swift’s original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
A Billion-Dollar Toy Story Hit
The digital release comes after an extraordinary theatrical run. Toy Story 5 crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide, becoming only the third Toy Story movie to reach that milestone and the sixth Pixar film to do so.
The movie also opened with an enormous $312 million worldwide, demonstrating that audiences were more than ready to reunite with Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang. Its success has made Toy Story 5 one of the defining family blockbusters of the summer.
Toys vs. Technology
This time, the toys face an unusually modern threat: technology. Bonnie’s attention is increasingly captured by Lilypad, a tablet-like device voiced by Greta Lee, leaving Jessie and the other toys worried about whether traditional toys still have a place in children’s lives.
The story gives the franchise another opportunity to explore a familiar Toy Story theme—what happens when children grow and their interests change. Jessie takes a particularly important role as she struggles with the changing relationship between children and toys, while the film introduces new characters alongside returning favorites.
For families who missed Toy Story 5 in theaters—or simply want to watch it again—the wait is almost over. August 18 marks the next chapter in the franchise’s journey from the big screen to the family room.
