Disney’s Emmy-winning animated comedy returns with new adventures—and a surprisingly star-studded voice cast.
Big City Greens is back for Season 5, with the first five new episodes streaming now on Disney Channel and Disney+. The new season promises the same mix of family comedy and country-kid-in-the-city adventures, but with some unusual twists, including rotoscoped ice skating, possessed trucks and plenty of “hot potato” antics.
The season also expands the show’s already impressive guest-voice roster. Stephen King, Luke Combs, Dylan Sprouse, Megan Stalter, Chad Michael Murray, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are among the new voices joining returning guest stars including Danny Trejo, Alfred Molina, Jameela Jamil, Colin Hanks and Dan Stevens.
Meet the Green Family
Created by brothers Chris and Shane Houghton, Big City Greens follows 10-year-old Cricket Green, a mischievous country kid who moves with his family from their rural home to the big city. His family includes his sister Tilly, father Bill, mother Nancy and outspoken grandmother Alice, while friends such as Remy and Gloria add to Cricket’s daily adventures.
The show’s appeal comes from putting an energetic, sometimes reckless kid into situations where his enthusiasm routinely gets the better of him. Now an Emmy-winning series, Big City Greens has also expanded beyond television with Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation, giving longtime fans another way to spend time with the Greens.
More Than Just Laughs
For kids, Big City Greens can offer lessons about family, friendship, responsibility and learning from mistakes without turning every episode into an obvious moral lesson. Cricket’s impulsive behavior frequently creates problems, but the stories ultimately emphasize the importance of accepting consequences, apologizing and looking out for the people around you.
The show’s longevity also speaks to its popularity: Disney says Big City Greens has accumulated more than four billion hours of lifetime viewing across linear television and streaming, along with nearly one billion views on Disney-owned YouTube. It has also reached the milestone of 100 episodes, demonstrating just how far the Greens have come since the series premiered in 2018.
