Parents who have ever spent 20 minutes searching Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and other services for something their kids can watch may soon have another tool. JustWatch, best known as a streaming search and discovery guide, is launching its own streaming service, bringing content directly into the platform families already use to figure out what to watch.
JustWatch TV is expected to launch in October 2026, expanding the company from a guide that tells viewers where content is available into a destination where they can actually watch it. The service is being built around a mix of AVOD (ad-supported video on demand) and TVOD (transactional video on demand) offerings, with additional subscription-based viewing planned.
The launch is particularly interesting for parents because JustWatch already organizes movies and television by service, genre, rating and other filters. Its Canadian platform, for example, allows users to filter titles by age rating, making it easier to find age-appropriate kids’ movies and shows.
The new service is expected to include programming from partners including Paramount, New Regency and Fremantle. That means JustWatch could become more than a place to search for family entertainment—it could become another place where families actually watch it.
Why JustWatch Could Be Useful for Parents
For families juggling multiple streaming subscriptions, JustWatch’s biggest advantage has always been convenience. Parents can search for a movie and see whether it is included with a subscription, available for free, or requires a rental or purchase.
The service also offers filters for kids and family content, age ratings, genres and prices, which can make the dreaded “What can we watch tonight?” question considerably easier to answer. JustWatch currently lists more than 105,000 titles, illustrating just how much content families can sort through.
That could become even more valuable as streaming libraries continue to fragment. Instead of opening five different apps and searching each one, parents can start with one destination and narrow the choices based on what their family actually wants to watch.
From Streaming Guide to Huge Entertainment Platform
JustWatch was founded in 2013 and launched in the United States and Germany in 2015, originally positioning itself as a solution to the increasingly complicated world of digital entertainment. Over the years, it expanded into an international streaming guide covering movies, television and sports.
Today, JustWatch says it serves 60 million sers globally across 140 countries, including approximately 20 million monthly users in the U.S. That enormous audience gives the company a substantial built-in customer base for its new streaming venture.
The company’s own description calls JustWatch “the world’s largest streaming guide,” reflecting how dramatically it has grown since its early days.
For parents, the biggest appeal may ultimately be simplicity: one familiar place to discover family entertainment, compare viewing options and, increasingly, watch the content itself.
