Iconic children’s apparel retailer Carter’s has officially announced a comprehensive rebrand designed to engage a new generation of millennial and Gen Z parents. The updated brand identity centers on a new North Star promise to “Let every child’s light shine”. Anchored by a refreshed logo featuring a shooting star in place of the classic apostrophe, the brand is rolling out its new look across digital channels in 2026, with store updates following in 2027.

Alongside the updated logo, the company launched its “Watch Them Glow” marketing campaign to celebrate children’s individuality and creativity. The strategy combines modern visual branding with expanded charitable initiatives, including a new multi-year partnership with Outward Bound.

Modern parents can expect to see these creative updates reflected in refreshed apparel lines, digital platforms, and updated retail packaging.

What Carter’s Hopes to Achieve With the Revamp

The rebrand aims to directly address shifting parent demographics as younger generations become the primary buyers of baby and children’s clothing. Following recent years of challenging financial headwinds, the company is positioning itself to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive retail landscape.

Speaking on the necessity of the evolution, Chief Executive Sharon Price John told CNBC, “Brands evolve. They have to. If they don’t evolve, they’re left behind”.

Through strategic store footprint adjustments and focused digital outreach, the brand is already seeing positive operational momentum. Financial reporting highlights that Carter’s achieved a 10.5% rise in U.S. comparable sales during the first quarter of 2026, alongside a mid-teens percentage surge in Gen Z customers. The company hopes this updated image will sustain long-term growth across all sales channels.

A Heritage Built on Seven Generations of Families

Founded 161 years ago, Carter’s stands as North America’s largest and most enduring company dedicated exclusively to children’s apparel. Operating over 1,000 retail stores alongside major wholesale partnerships with Target, Walmart, and Amazon, the brand maintains an irreplaceable role in family life. Its deep history provides a powerful foundation of trust that spans seven generations of parents.

Reflecting on the brand’s enduring legacy, John shared with We Are Iowa, “For generations, families have trusted Carter’s during some of the most important years of their children’s lives”.

By honoring this historical trust while modernizing its core identity, Carter’s ensures it remains a cherished household staple for decades to come.
