A woman alleged that her ex-husband shot her six times in the back while she was 20 weeks pregnant, an attack that she said led to the loss of her baby. The TikTok creator, who posts as @kayla.rpa, shared her story on what would have been her daughter’s first birthday.
She named Jeremy McBride as the man who shot her on January 19, 2025, at her home. She said she later gave birth to a stillborn girl, whom she named Ayanna Dawn. McBride’s side of the story was not part of her account, and she titled her post “Ayanna’s Story, Part One.”
She Told Her Ex About the Pregnancy in Person

According to the woman, she found out she was pregnant on October 4 after taking two tests that both came back positive. About a month later, she asked McBride to meet her at Garfield Park, where she told him the news herself because she did not want him to hear it from friends or social media. She said he told her he felt bad for her and asked who the father was.
She told her family in Texas on Christmas Eve and shared the news publicly the next day. In January, a small gender reveal with close friends confirmed that she was having a girl.
A Week of Texts, Visits and Dinner

The woman said the final week began on January 14, when a Facebook message from a woman named Brittany arrived at the same moment as a text from McBride. She went to his mother’s house, where he was staying and learned that he had lost his job. She spent the next two days checking on him and encouraging him to look for work.
On January 17, he reportedly stopped by for a Christmas gift her mother had sent for him. The following night, after a photo shoot at a friend’s house, the two had dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
The Day of the Shooting

On January 19, the woman marked her 20-week milestone with a morning at a friend’s home. A friend offered to go to Goodwill with her that afternoon, but she had already agreed to meet McBride there. She texted him and used the weather as an excuse, and he replied, “I really just want to see you, so whatever.”
She said they shopped separately at Goodwill. Since McBride had no car, she drove him to her house so he could pick up belongings from her shed.
He allegedly stayed for about an hour after that. She said she FaceTimed a friend to ask what she should do, and the friend suggested going shopping as a reason to leave. The woman agreed and started getting ready.
McBride allegedly followed her into the bedroom and sat on the bed while she brushed her hair in the bathroom.
“That was the last thing I remember before he shot me,” she said.
Her post did not say whether McBride had been arrested or charged.
