‘My Christmas Sing-Along Book’ from I See Me! Book Review

'My Christmas Sing-Along Book' from I See Me! Book Review

My children love reading personalized books. With the holidays approaching, my daughter is also obsessed with singing her favorite Christmas songs. She was thus super excited when recently offered the chance to review a copy of My Christmas Sing-Along Book edited by Maia Haag and illustrated by Katya Longhi from I See Me! Personalized Children’s Books. I eagerly accepted the opportunity to add a new holiday title personalized for my little girl to my home library including our collection of other I See Me! books such as My Very Own Fairy Tale, My Very Own Name 15th Anniversary Edition, It’s My Night-Night Time, and Princess. I received a personalized copy of My Christmas Sing-Along Book and a CD featuring the songs in the book, each personalized with my daughter’s name!

About

The personalized 20-page hardback My Christmas Sing-Along Book from I See Me! features lyrics from popular holiday songs. Recommended for readers from birth to age 6, the sing-along book includes a custom dedication and a photo to make the book extra special. The book and accompanying CD feature nine Christmas songs:

  1. Jingle Bells
  2. Jolly Old St. Nicholas
  3. Here We Come A-Caroling
  4. Deck the Halls
  5. 12 Days of Christmas
  6. Up on the Housetop
  7. Over the River and Through the Woods
  8. Toyland
  9. We Wish You a Merry Christmas

The book and CD currently cost $39.99, which I consider quite reasonable for a personalized holiday gift set. The binding is very sturdy, and the glossy pages are quite thick. I am certain that this book will last for years to come based on the high quality materials and construction. I therefore also rate the book very highly in terms of the quality.

Personalization

Recommended for children from birth through age 6, the personalized My Christmas Sing-Along Book allows for personalization of a child’s name and birthday. The purchaser can also include a custom dedication in the front of the book and a photograph of the child. I chose to dedicate the book with “This book was made especially for Poppy Johnson who arrived on December 12, 2011. May your holidays be filled with laughter and song! From, Mommy, Daddy, and Will.” The child’s name appears throughout the book within the song lyrics and pictures and within the songs on the CD. My daughter absolutely loves seeing and hearing her name all over her copy of My Christmas Sing-Along Book. I thus rate this title extremely highly in terms of personalization.

Evaluation

My daughter absolutely loves her copy of My Christmas Sing-Along Book. She has been listening to her favorite Christmas songs since Thanksgiving now, and she really wants to learn all the words to the songs. This personalized book is therefore absolutely perfect for her. Almost all the songs included in the book are her favorites including “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls.” My daughter loves being able to follow along with the lyrics in the book as she listens to the CD. On the first day that I gave her the set, she promptly listened to the entire CD three times in a row. She wanted to keep going, but I convinced her to listen to something new for a while with the promise of putting the CD back on later!

In addition to the music and lyrics, my daughter also enjoys looking at the illustrations by Katya Longhi in My Christmas Sing-Along Book. The illustrations are bright and colorful and full of the whimsy that you expect in a holiday book for children. The illustration style is soft and beautiful. My daughter loves seeing her name appear in the pictures throughout the book. My toddler son also loves flipping through the pages to look at the pictures. He especially enjoys pointing out the animals and Santa Claus throughout the book.

Final Verdict

Just as with the other personalized books from I See Me! that my kids own, the My Christmas Sing-Along Book and CD set is a new favorite in my home. My daughter loves seeing her name in the lyrics and pictures. The binding is very sturdy, the pages are glossy and thick, and the book has already withstood the wear and tear that my daughter has subjected it to. My daughter has also already listened to the CD numerous times in the few days that she has had the set. If you are a fan of personalized books like my kids and I are and your kids love holiday music, then definitely give My Christmas Sing-Along Book and CD from I See Me! a chance this holiday season.
