Autumn is my favorite season of the year, and I absolutely love all the delicious apple goodies that come with fall. With two apple trees in my yard, I have plenty of homegrown apples. To preserve the apples that my kids did not eat, I made a batch of apple freezer jam. I plan to use the apple jam when I make my thumbprint cookies for the holidays.
Ingredients
- 8 apples
- 1 1.59-ounce package of Mrs. Wages No Cook Freezer Jam Fruit Pectin
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Directions
- Wash and slice the apples. Do not remove the skins.
- Place the apple slices in a large pot and cover with water.
- Cook the apples over medium-low heat until the apples are soft and the water has boiled off.
- Drain any excess water.
- Allow the cooked apples to cool slightly.
- Transfer cooled cooked apples to a large bowl.
- Blend until mostly smooth with a few small chunks.
- Stir in the pectin, sugar, and lemon juice.
- Transfer the freezer jam to glass jars.
- Allow the apple jam to cool.
- Freeze the jars of apple jam.
- Thaw the apple freezer in the refrigerator.
