My son turned one back in October, but my family and I wanted to take him to LEGOLAND as his big birthday gift. Because of scheduling conflicts, we did not get to have a family day out until the end of January. The Sunday after my first New York blizzard, we headed to the LEGOLAND at the Ridge Hill mall in Yonkers. Admission cost $20.50 each for my husband, my daughter, and myself. Babies and toddlers under the age of 3 are free. I personally thought that the price was a bit high, but at least my son got in free for his birthday because of his age.
Both my kiddos had a great time at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester. My son enjoyed playing with the DUPLOS and LEGO Soft Bricks. At one point, he was playing with some DUPLO blocks on the Earthquake Tables. Another mom asked him, “What are you making?” Out of nowhere, he replied, “Something awesome.” At first my husband just thought that he had heard our son say something awesome, but then three other parents asked, “Did that little boy just say ‘something awesome’?” Our trip to LEGOLAND proved that my fifteen-month-old son is something awesome!
In addition to building something awesome, my son also had a blast watching his big sister play at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester. She loved going on the two rides: Kingdom Quest and Merlin’s Apprentice Ride. She also loved climbing around in the LEGO Fire Academy soft play area. Both my husband and I even took turns climbing around with her. We were both exhausted from the excursion, which involved us bending over while climbing in the small spaces! Both kids also enjoyed watching the 3D LEGO movie.
I particularly enjoyed looking at all the LEGO creations throughout the center. My favorite part was the spectacular MINILAND in which the famous New York skyline came to miniature life. My son loved pushing the buttons throughout the display to turn on lights, sounds, and music. I loved watching the miniature subway travel around the base of the display. If you are a LEGO fan and are ever in Westchester County in New York, I recommend paying a visit to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester at the Ridge Hill mall. Build something awesome while spending some quality time with your family!
